Party Commends State APC Secretary’s Palliative Gesture For Members, Residents

The gesture of the State Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Muhydeen Jokomba, of donating raw rice to 500 party members and residents in the 30 Wards in Ikorodu Division, has received commendation from the party.

The 5kg rice packages which its distribution to various wards commenced on Tuesday, was done through the Divisional structure of the ruling party in Ikorodu.

Ward Chairmen and other executives were seen at the Anibaba House Secretariat of the party on the Obafemi Awolowo Way, collecting the rice packages for their respective wards.

According to Dr Jokomba who was a former two – term Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), the gesture was embarked upon to support the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo – Olu’s palliative measures to cushion the effective of the harsh economy on the people.

He said that the distribution was also his own way of remembering his base that gave him the mandate of representing them at the state level of the party.

Jokomba pledged to continue to give back to the party and residents of Ikorodu Division.

Otunba Tijani Jimoh Olasunkanmi, Chairman, APC Ikorodu Division, speaking with THE IMPACT during the distribution, described Jokomba’s act as a nice gesture to the people of Ikorodu.

“It a nice gesture because he was thinking about other people; thinking about the less privilege and thinking about the people that he is representing. That is what I feel the State Secretary has done. The little he has been able to get, he chose to bring it back home and extend the gesture to his people and nice enough, he is distributing it round all the wards in Ikorodu Division”, he said.

“We have to thank him and tell him that any time he needs us, we will always be there for him”.

The APC Chairman also clarified that the palliative donated by Dr Jokomba was not only for party members, but also for other residents too.

“The bags of rice are not really for party members alone, he is also giving them out to residents that are not party members. He is just using the party platform as a medium of distributing them to various wards. It is meant for the generality of the people, whether you are a party member or not. He specifically asked us to pick certain number of people from each ward and that is what we have done by distributing the rice”, Otunba Tijani said.

“Aside remembering our people, it is also his own way of supporting Asiwaju Tinubu and the Governor, in the palliative distribution to the people and we thank him so much and we pray for him”, he added.

Divisional Publicity Secretary, Mr Adinlewa Oluwafemi, who supervised the distribution, also commended the gesture by the State scribe.

“The is a laudable and good gesture from our APC State Secretary. As a member of our party in Ikorodu Division, he deemed it fit to returned home to give back to our people and support President Bola Tinubu’s food palliative”, he said.

“We are proud of him and kudos to him for this gesture”.

Mr Olakunle Soberu, Chairman, APC Ward C1, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, who was at the party secretariat in Ikorodu to collect the food items for the people in his ward, also thanked the donor.

“We thank the State APC Secretary for the gift for our Ward. Our people are very happy about this, especially with the situation in the country at the moment. We should be having things like this from time to time”.
