The Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ikorodu Division, Babatunde Oyesanya, has joined voice with those calling for the appointment of Mr Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media to President Bola Tinubu, as Minister for Youths.
Dada was among the first set of appointments made by President Tinubu, after he assumed office as President and the Commander – in – Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Mr President had, last week, announced his cabinet members and allocated Ministry portfolios to them without anyone appointed to preside over the Ministry of Youths.
Mr Oyesanya, in a statement at the weekend, requested the President to consider Segun Dada who last year stepped down as the National Youth Leader of the APC, at the party’s 2022 National Convention held at Eagle Square, Abuja.
He said that the Special Assistant to the President, has demonstrated his commitment to the development of youths and that his track records placed him in better position to bridge the gap between his own generation and the nation’s leaders.
“As the Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), for the Ikorodu Division, which spans 1 Local Government Area (LGA), 5 (Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), and 30 wards, I, Babatunde Oyesanya, proudly and unequivocally endorse Mr. Dada Olusegun, for the esteemed position of the Minister for Youths, under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR”, he said.
“Mr. Dada Olusegun, currently serving our nation as the Special Assistant on Social Media, has continuously demonstrated his commitment to innovation, youth empowerment, and national development. His sterling track record underscores the importance of positioning leaders like him at the helm of youth affairs to bridge the gap between our nation’s potentials and its realization.
“Endorsing Mr. Olusegun is not just about acknowledging his past achievements, but about fostering a future where the Nigerian youths have a dedicated, experienced, and visionary leader in the echelons of government. We, at the APC Ikorodu Division, recognize his potential to amplify the voices of our youths and work diligently toward their advancement.
“Should the position of Minister for Youths be zoned to Lagos State, we strongly believe that the person of Dada Olusegun, is the rightful and most suitable candidate to represent the youths of Nigeria, in the current administration”, he added.
Oyesanya, who appealed on behalf of the APC in Ikorodu Division, said that his clamour for the appointment of Segun Dada, is based on his capacities to deliver on the assignment and assist the President in moving the country forward.
“On behalf of the APC Ikorodu Division, we appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to consider our endorsement of Mr. Dada Olusegun, for this pivotal role. This is not just an endorsement; it’s a testament to our faith in his capabilities and our hope for a progressive Nigeria”, he said.
“I, along with the numerous youths in our division, express confidence that His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, will consider our appeal with utmost consideration, recognizing the potential impact of Mr. Dada Olusegun’s appointment on the Nigerian youths and the nation as a whole”.
