Zenith Peers Club Felicitates Founding Member, Legal Eminence, SOK Shillings At 60

One of the foremost clubs in Ikorodu, the Zenith Peers, has felicitated one of its founding members, community developer per excellence and a sound legal mind, Barr. Saheed Osuolale Kolawole Shilings, on his 60th birthday.

Shillings turned 60 on Monday.

The club’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement jointly signed by the General Secretary and President of the club, Peer Oluwaseyi A. Adelabu and Peer Omotunde M. Zulukhadeen, respectively, .

The club described Shillings as not just the pillar of the club since its existence till date, but also, a consistent personality who has served his community and professional body in many important roles.

“One of the eight friends that helped co-found the Zenith Peers Club, on September 10, 1989, is SOK Shillings who has been a voice, a focal point and a pillar of the Club’s sustainability and continuity for the past 33 years and more”, the statement said.

“Thanks to his efforts and those of other notable members, the Club is what and where it is today. His foresight, tenacity, love and desire for the Club’s continued expansion, are much appreciated.

“Over the years, SOK has ably served in a number of positions, including General Secretary, Finance Secretary, and President of the Club, to name just a few.

“The former Ikorodu NBA Chairman has a down to earth personality, and is a highly sociable person. He is a former teacher, a reputable lawyer, a politician, a cultural ambassador and a leading advocate for the political, social, economic and educational liberation of Ikorodu.

“He had participated in and still taking part in forums and organizations in Ikorodu, that are shaping and contributing to the growth of the Ikorodu division. It is impossible to overstate his active involvement in the founding and/or sustainability of organizations like the Association of Classroom Teachers, Ikorodu, The Volunteers Group, Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Coalition of Leaders of Ikorodu Division (COLID), and other illustrious groups too numerous to list”, the statement said.

The Club also described the celebrant as a lovely and caring husband, father and supportive friend to many who have come his way.

While joining his family and friends to celebrate his 60th anniversary, Zenith Peers Club also described Shillings as a towering figure at the bar with his legal mind, and a mentor to many youths who chose his profession and others in other areas of human endeavours.

“SOK cares a lot. He cares about and looks out for his family, friends and fellow club members, and he is not afraid to go above and beyond to help others in need. He promotes harmony and cultivates relationships”, the statement said.

“He is a legal eminence, and he has meritoriously served the bar at various levels. He has demonstrated unmatched excellence in the profession of law, and has done a commendable job of guiding and mentoring young attorneys.

“The Zenith Peers Club members join his family, friends, the community, colleagues and well-wishers in celebrating his diamond jubilee birthday. We also pray that the good Lord grants him more blessings and wisdom so that he can succeed in his work, promoting social and economic justice for the people.

“His recompense will be abundant in the coming years for all the souls he has touched. Most importantly, may God’s grace overflows throughout his life.

“We pray you have a graceful birthday and happy life”.
