United High School Old Students’ Association Constitutes National Body, Inaugurate First – Ever Executive Council

The old students of the United High School, Ikorodu, have constituted its national body about 40 years after the school turned out its first set of graduates, with various set associations coming into existence.

Its first executive council, led by Alhaji Dapo Dawodu – Olowosago, was inaugurated at a well – attended ceremony which had the presence of members of various sets.


The event was held at the school premises on Alison Street/Etunrenren Road, Ikorodu, on December 26, 2022.

He was inaugurated alongside other executives: Alhaji Mojeed Sanni (Vice President 1), Barrister Muneer Ogunbunmi Odesanya (Vice President 2), Princess Folashade Adebayo (General Secretary), Oyekan Oyewole (Assistant General Secretary) and Prince Osikoya Oludare (Treasurer).

Others are: Mr. Asisela Gafar (Financial Secretary), Odusote Oluwafemi (Auditor), Hassan Olawale (PRO), Alashe Motunrayo (Social Secretary) and Adeyinka Titilope (Welfare).

Meanwhile, Alhaji Dapo Dawodu Olowosago, the first President of the old students’ association, assured that his administration’s programmes are geared towards assisting the school.

“Well, we thank God for the inauguration. It is something that we have been planning to achieve before. I came out of the school with 1983 set and for some time now, we have been planning to raise the National body and today, with the grace of God, we are coming together. I know that it will be quite challenging when I am taking responsibility in this state, but I believe God will assist us”, he said.

“Moreover, we have been to different schools and we have seen what they have done there. We will like to do the same here, and by the grace of God, everything will be okay.

“Our programmes will be mainly to assist the school. That is the reason for our existence. We want to give back to the school, and I believe everything will be fine”, he assured.

The new President, who said that the new national body will continue to carry along various set groups, also charged members to give the national body their maximum support.

“We have been communicating with them and today, they are all here. In my inaugural speech, I thanked them for their support and presence, and also charged them to answer us anytime that we call on them”, he said.

He also sought the assistance of the school in charging the old students’ associations to support her.

“I wish the school good luck, and anytime we call on them, they should answer us because without them, we won’t be here today. So, we want them to support us as we make the school greater”, Alhaji Dawodu – Olowosago said.

The Coordinator, United High School Old Students’ Association, Chief Jelili Sanni, who midwifed the emergence of the national body into existence, described the achievement as a thing of joy and happiness.

“It is a thing of joy and happiness today that we are here to witness the inauguration of the newly constituted Executive Committee that will ensure stability, tranquility and defend the constitution of this Association and celebrate the End of the year Party for 2022. We celebrate God’s blessings on our new Executives, Congratulations!”, he said.

“Glory be to God Almighty that led us through on the 27th of November, 2022, where I had the singular honour and privilege to act as the coordinator who conducted a free and fair election, and ratification on the newly constituted Executive Committee.

“May I use this medium to express my sincere appreciation to all sets that contributed both in cash and kind to today’s occasion. I will not end my appreciation without mentioning those who pledged and those who have fulfilled their pledges to support the new executive as a take-off capital for the smooth running of our dear Association…..”, he said.

Mr Ogunrekun Olawale, Principal, United Senior High School, Ikorodu, while appreciating the former students, said that they have over the years proved that they love their alma mater.

He charged them to connect more with others on board, adding that the school is still in need of their assistance.

“First and foremost, the National body as a whole, has been able to prove to me the kind of love they have for their Alma mater by the fact that they just got to know me not to long and they have these kinds of plans and secondly, I want to use this opportunity to thank all the executives, students and all the set”, he said.

“The only expectation I have for them is that they should try as much as possible to connect more with their members and I know there are still many things they can do for the school, but with time, I will let them know.

“For what they have done now, I am really appreciative of it. I bless God for their lives, and I pray all of them will succeed in their fields, and I will continue to pray to God concerning them”, he prayed.
