Igbogbo Students Top Rep. Babajimi Benson’s Tuition Assistance Scheme

The Representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has revealed that students from Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), will be benefitting more than other five Councils in his newly instituted Tuition Assistance Scheme (TAS).

Benson, who is the Chairman, House committee on Defense, made the disclosure at the 6th Coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Barr. Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Emugoriade I, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, and the grand finale of the 34th Igbogbo Day Celebrations.

The event, which was well attended by royal fathers, eminent personalities and thousands of Igbogbo indigenes and residents, took place within the Zumrattul Islammiyyah Secondary School compound along Igbogbo/Bayeku Road, Igbogbo on Saturday, November 26, 2022.

The Director – General, iCare Foundation, Mayor Muhydeen Sanwoola, unveiled the Tuition Assistance Scheme on August 19, 2022, to enable students in public tertiary institutions in Ikorodu Federal Constitution, have access to alternative means of paying for their school fees.

“Surprisingly, Igbogbo LCDA ranked the highest in the number of shortlisted beneficiaries for the tuition assistance scheme packaged by iCare Foundation, which presentations shall be done before the end of the year”, Rep. Benson disclosed.

While given his account of stewardship in the last three and half years, Rep. Benson also charged residents of Igbogbo to give massive votes to the APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other APC candidates in the coming elections.

“On my assignment as a member House of Representative, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, I have been able to sponsor 20 bills and raised 2 motions as well as facilitated infrastructural development to the 6 LCDAs in Ikorodu Division in the areas of health, education, sports, power, entrepreneurship training, youth and women empowerment, among others”, Rep. Benson said.

“Just to mention a few, it may interest you to know that over 32 link roads have been completed in Ikorodu, while the facilitated Ikorodu-Ishagamu road shall be completed in the first quarter of next year. Majidun road linking Ogolonto road in Ikorodu West has also been completed and shall be commissioned soon for ease of transportation of our people.

“Also, in Imota LCDA, 80-bed mother and child hospital has been completed, awaiting commissioning. Also, 22 school buildings constructed; 120 classrooms facilitated, 2,800 household solar power system installed, 3,200 solar street lights installed, among others”, he added.

“Do we not desire to improve the number of human capital and infrastructural development attracted to Ikorodu Division? Of course, we do! Hence, I want to use this opportunity to urge the entire residents to ensure the strength of the population of Ikorodu as the third largest city in South-West reflects in the votes for Asiwaju Tinubu and other APC candidates in Ikorodu in the 2023 general elections”, the lawmaker charged.
