The Lagos State government has assured the general public that the case of child defilement levelled against one Dr. F. Olaleye would not be swept under the carpet despite the rumour that the case has been abandoned.

A statement issued by the Executive Secretary, Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), Mrs. Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, said the Agency had received a complaint bordering on an allegation of sexual assault and defilement of a child allegedly perpetrated by Dr. Olaleye on the 19th of  March 2022.

Mrs. Vivour-Adeniyi explained that the Agency immediately referred the case to the designated Police Station and the Gender Desk Department of the Lagos Police Command, adding that DSVA also ensured that the child received the required medical evaluation as well as all necessary psychosocial support.

“We have requested the police to forward the duplicate case file to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions so that legal advice can be issued. Furthermore, we have also shared with the police additional information that could assist with the ongoing investigation of the case”, she added.

While informing that the DSVA has also been contacted by various individuals on social media to narrate similar ordeals with the suspect, she encouraged others who had, previously, been assaulted to reach out to the Agency via its Twitter handle @lagosdsva or via the toll free-line: 08000 333 333, to assist the State with the investigation.

The Executive Secretary reiterated that the State Government’s zero tolerance for all forms of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence is unwavering, maintaining that no case of sexual abuse allegation will be swept under the carpet.
