A Muslim cleric, Imam Nurudeen Ibn Quadri, the Chief Imam of Maigida Central Mosque, Ebute – Ibese, has charged public office holders and others saddled with responsibilities of an office to use it for the good of the people.

Imam Quadri, who spoke at the 2022 Adeboruwa Ramadan Lecture, held at the Adeboruwa palace, Igbogbo on Saturday, April 16, 2022, also enjoined them to use their offices to drive development for the progress of the society.

The revered muslim cleric, who spoke on the topic, “Reviving the Moral Fabric of A Nation: Islamic Antidote”, commended the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, for his leadership qualities and efforts in impacting positively on the people and community at large.

“God favoured our monarch and he is reciprocating it in his deeds to the people. He is using his stool to impact people’s lives. He is very accessible and simple. His simplicity is in fact total and always makes people wonder if he is not a monarch”, Imam Quadri said.

“He doesn’t allow position to influence him, rather, he is managing the position very well and that is the message to all our leaders.

“God said that you should always do good to others since you are favoured to be in a position of authority. You never knew that you would be Councilor, Chairman or that you will occupy other positions before now. You were struggling like many others and today that you are in position, God wants you to make use of it.

“Use your position to improve human conditions and not to add to peoples’ problems. Don’t use your money to harass people and make them feel that they are of no good or use”.

While charging other people in position to emulate the nature and good deeds of Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Imam Quadri described the monarch as a God – fearing, popular and development driven person.

The guest speaker identified lack of community parentage, bad leaders, mismanagement of human and natural resources, corruption, deviation from God’s commandments and immorality among others as causes of socio – economic and political problems in Nigeria.

“Today, Nigeria is a hungry nation; hunger for leadership, food, integrity, security and safety because of the nation’s ungodliness”, Imam Quadri said.

Proffering solutions to the multifaceted challenges, the guest lecturer said that Nigerians must resolve to set the country on a path of greatness and work towards it.

“There is no miracle in nation building; good governance and followership are germane. Those managing the affairs of the country, state or community must be on the same page. They must work positively together”, he said.
