Ikorodu Constituency II: Hammed Aroyewun Declares Intention For Lagos Assembly Seat

The race for the sole Ikorodu Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly is getting interesting as more aspirants are joining the race, especially from the Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), as the council get battle ready to claim the seat after Imota LCDA complete its own term in 2023.

Latest to publicly declare his intention is Mr Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), a leading youth leader and community developer who was nominated for the Commissionership position from Ikorodu Division at the beginning of Governor  Babajide Sanwo – Olu’s administration.

He is contesting on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aroyewun is a Prince of Egbin and Ijede in Ijede LCDA as well as indigene of Igbogbo and Imota all in Ikorodu Constituency II. He is also hails from a royal family in Ikorodu.

He officially kicked – off his campaign on Friday, April 1, 2022, at the Obateru Castle in Egbin, to prove his loyalty to the kingdom.

The aspirant said that his aspiration is all about development for the entire Ikorodu Constituency II.

“I am contesting for the Ikorodu Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly. I am a bonafide son of Egbin, Igbogbo, Ijede and Ikorodu. In actual fact, I am a son of Mosene Elewu Ala in Imota. These imply that I am an original Ikorodu Division born and greatly born for that matter”, he declared.

“It is a privileged birth designed by God.

“My aspiration is for the development of Ijede, Igbogbo/Bayeku and Imota Local Council Development Areas.

“I am starting my campaign in Egbin because here is my father’s house (Obateru’s castle). ‘Won so wi pe ile lati ko eso r’ode (Good steps must commence from home). I am happy to see Obateru – in – Council, my family and people here. This gathering is a signal”, he said.

“We have made several moves concerning this aspiration and we have been well accepted wherever that we have gone with people telling us that we are enjoying the good works that our father has done.

“They are also willing to identify and give us their support once they know that it’s Kabiyesi’s (Oba Akeem Oyebo, the Obateru of Egbin) project. I am proud to have the royal father as a father”, he said.

The Olisa of Egbin, High Chief Lateef Saminu Shokoya, thanked the Obateru of Egbin Kingdom for his royal endorsement for Hammed Aroyewun and congratulated the entire Egbin and Ikorodu Constituency II for having a worthy and quality aspirant to represent them.

He charged people to support Aroyewun to achieve successful aspiration.

The traditional chief also enjoined Aroyewun to ensure that he implemented his promises to the people.

Representative of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ijede chapter, Hon. Mubarak Olodo, also speaking, said that he and others are in attendance to give support to Aroyewun’s aspiration.

He called for unity among Ijede and Egbin to achieve success and development.

He charged elders in Ijede LCDA to liaise with leaders in other parts of the Constituency to ensure that Ijede takes its turn in presenting a candidate for the Ikorodu Constituency II seat  in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Representatives of families, groups and associations that spoke at the formal declaration commended the aspirant who they described as capable and qualified to represent the Constituency.

Profile Of Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (H.O.A)

Genealogy

Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun is a noble son of Egbin, Ijede, Igbogbo, and Ikorodu towns. He is a descendant of the Gbarule Royal Family of Egbin Kingdom, a wing of the Obateru Royal Family in Ijede Local Council Development Area. This lineage extends to the Onadugba wing of the Rademo Royal Family of Ikorodu. Through his mother, Hammed also hails from the Ogunmuyiwa branch of Ladega royal family of Ijede, Ijede Local Council Development Area.

Both of his parents also had ancestral roots in Igbogbo, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area. While his father is from the prominent Aroyewun family of Itun-Perufu in Igbogbo, his mother is from the renowned Odusegun family of Itun-mokun, Igbogbo. His extended families have strong affiliation to the prestigious Itunabosan and Itunla communities of Igbogbo, Igbogbo/Baiyeku Local Council Development Area.

Education

Hammed was educated at Methodist Primary School, Igbogbo, and Zumratul Islamiyyah Grammar School, Igbogbo. He was trained as a teacher in Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education in 2002 and had his Undergraduate studies at the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago- Iwoye, Ogun State and was awarded a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 2007. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree at the University of Lagos, Akoka.

Career

From 2007 to 2008, Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun served the compulsory one-year youth service at the Yobe State Government Secretariat.

In 2010, he joined the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service as a Revenue Supervisor where he has continuously deployed his skills, charisma, and tireless energy to increase the revenue base of the state. He rose through the ranks to his present level of Revenue Officer.

 Political Career

Hammed has picked keen interest in politics right from his formative years; his alignment has always been with the progressives. He is a strong member of the All Progressives Congress till date.

He has served diligently as member, Evaluation and Monitoring Committee, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Independent Campaign Group, 2018 – 2019. The committee provided quality information for giving impetus to the campaign and for advancing the electioneering activities of Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.

He was also screened and nominated by the Ikorodu Division APC Apex body to serve as a Commissioner in the present Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu led administration.

He was a member of the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Local Organizing Committee (2021) for the election of Senator Tokunbo Abiru as Senator, Lagos East SenatoriaL District.

He is currently the Coordinator, Youth for ABAT, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA. Community service and Social Engagement.

Hammed has a long track record of community service.

He currently serves as Vice Chairman/Director of Programs, DE. Vanguard, a socio-political group domiciled within Ikorodu Division.

He is a distinguished member of the Egbin Emancipated Youth Movement.

He is the current Publicity Secretary, Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA) and doubles as member, Igbogbo Day Planning Committee.

He is an active member of the Concerned Ikorodu Division Youths. He has served, since 2019, as member of the organizing committee, Igbogbo Youth Coalition.

He served as Chairman, Electoral Committee, Igbogbo Students’ Union.

Personal Life

Hammed is a practicing Muslim. He enjoys public speaking and has focused strongly on motivating young people to imbibe integrity and altruism.
