Ikorodu Residents Watch Nigeria Beat Egypt At Special Viewing Centre

Ikorodu residents watching the Nigeria vs Egypt match played on Tuesday at the Ita Elewa Youth Centre in Ikorodu.

The Ita – Elewa Youth Centre played host to hundreds of football fans in Ikorodu as they trooped out today to watch the Super Eagles of Nigeria beat their first opponent in the ongoing 2022 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

The three-time champions, Nigeria defeated Egypt 1 – 0 in their group stage encounter of the 33rd Africa Cup of Nation.

The viewing centre was created by the Lagos State Sports Commission to afford residents the opportunity to watch all the matches of the tournament in a secured environment.

The Eagles were very impressive and dominated the match with the Liverpool superstar, Salah unable to make much impact.

Leicester star, Kelechi Iheanacho scored the lone goal in the encounter in the 30th minute of the match to give Nigeria the maximum three points.

The Nigeria team is making its 19th appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Hon. Omotayo Awolesi, the Councilor representing Ward C in the Legislative Arm of the Ikorodu Local Government commended the Lagos State Government and Sports Commission for the creation of the viewing centre.

“I wish to express my sincere appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the son of the soil, Hon. Gafar Bolowotan, the  Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission for creating this viewing  centre” he said.

“You can see that people enjoyed the game here and the creation of viewing center by the Lagos State Government gave them joy  because of the atmosphere here”.
