Former Minister, Senator Ogunlewe Now Ikorodu Resource Group Chairman

-Prince Ogunleye re-elected as Secretary

Sen. Adeseye Kingsley Ogunlewe, newly elected Chairman, Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) and Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, the re – elected Secretary of the Group.

The Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) leadership baton has been passed  onto a new executive council led by Senator (Dr.) Adeseye Kingsley Ogunlewe, former Minister of Works, who would be steering the affairs of the Group for the next one year.

He took over the Chairmanship position from the former Chairman, Lagos State Local Government Service Commission, Bashorun Babatunde Rotinwa, at the 37th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Group held at the Ikorodu Town Hall.

Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, a former Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning & Urban Development, lawyer and former editor, was re-elected as the General Secretary of the Group the AGM.

Senator Ogunlewe,  in his acceptance speech, appreciated members for their support and confidence in him and for entrusting him with the leadership of the Resource Group, while he also pledged to continue to enhance the human capacity of Ikorodu Division.

He assured members that the aims and objectives of the Group would be the focus of his administration.

Senator Ogunlewe added that the development of Ikorodu Division, particularly at the primary and secondary school levels, would be the areas of concentration of his administration.

The former Minister also said that his administration would look into providing opportunity for placement into institutions for secondary school graduates and that, relevant statistics would be collated to assist the group in its plans.

He solicited the cooperation and support of all members to ensure the delivery of the objectives of the Group.

The outgone Chairman, Bashorun Rotinwa who stated that the Group was unable to award any scholarship to brilliant indigent students, charged the new administration to ensure that it is achieved during their tenure.

“The Group should consider doing this very important humanitarian task in the next financial year for the benefit of numerous brilliant and hardworking indigent students”, he charged.

He, however, gave the stewardship report of his administration account as follows:

“The presentation of school facilities to United Junior High School, Ikorodu, through Ikorodu Division Human Resources Development Board with the following items worth N1,500,000 (one million five hundred thousand naira) donated: Computer System – 3 units, Teachers’ Furniture – 20 chairs and 20 tables, Gas Cooker – 1 unit, Chest Deep Freezer – 1 unit, Gas Cylinder and accessories – 1 unit and Cooking utensils (pots and frying pan) for Home Economics Department”, Bashorun Rotinwa said.

“Stakeholders’ Meeting Towards the Establishment of Education Endowment Fund.

“Workshop on Small and Medium Scale Enterprises for indigenes who are graduates of University, Polytechnic and Technical College in Ikorodu Division. Facilitators were invited from nine (9) organizations but only six (6) were represented”.

Another achievement, according to the former chairman, is the successful organization of the 20th annual lecture of the Group and Mathematics competition among schools.

“The 20th edition of the Late Prof. Anthony Afolabi Adegbola Memorial Lecture was held on the 6th day of November, 2021, with the topic: ‘All Flesh is Grass: The Dimension of Ruminant Feeding and Nutrition’,  delivered by Prof. Adeniyi Agunbiade, Ph.D, FNIAS, FNSAP, FCASN, RAS, the Vice Chancellor of McPherson University, Seriki Sotayo, Ogun State, under the chairmanship of our distinguished Senator, Senator, Adetokunbo Abiru”, he said.

“Mathematics Competition for the Senior Secondary Schools students in the Division was held on Wednesday, the 13th day of October, 2021, at Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu. The programme was coordinated by Prof M. O. Ajetumobi”, he added.

“The award presentation to the best three students is yet to be done. The incoming administration should take note”.

He further charged IDRDG members to focus on developing the Ikorodu Division, stating that this was the aim of the founding fathers of the Group.

“The founding fathers of this Group had good intentions for the Ikorodu Division and that was why they established IDRDG in order to drive the Division’s developmental agenda. I want to implore every member to contribute his quota towards this common goal”, Bashorun Rotinwa charged.

“I want to thank all members once again for this opportunity to serve this noble Group which I do not take for granted. I appreciate all your contributions, donations and selfless services to ensure this administration records tangible success”.

 Other members of the new IDRDG executives are Prof M. O. Ajetunmobi  (Vice Chairman), Prof Kabiru O. Akinyemi (Asst. General Secretary), Bldr. Abdul-Lateef Shobowale (Treasurer), Tpl Hakeem Animashaun (Financial Secretary), Dr. Abiodun S. Okedeyi (Social Secretary), Dr. Taiwo Hassan (Auditor), Mr. F. O. Lasisi (Ex-Officio I) and Alhaji S. A. Oloyede  (Ex-Officio II).
