Oduborisa Emerges Oriwu Club New President, Presents 5-Year Plan

Engr. Amid Adekunle Oduborisa has been elected as the new president of the prestigious Oriwu Club of Ikorodu.

He took over the mantle of leadership of the club from Professor Adebayo Ninalowo and presented a 5-year sustainability plan while calling for support for his administration.

He said that during his tenure, the Club House will be given a facelift, different sections of the club upgraded and uplifted, improvement of the club’s corporate social responsibility and building a biodiversity garden among others. 

Oduborisa and others were elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the club held at the club house in Ikorodu situated along the Ikorodu – Shagamu Road on Saturday, December, 4, 2021.

The newly elected President was sworn – in by the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Kabir Shotobi.

Engr Oduborisa is an Environmental Consultant who has had several years of work experience with the multinational Chevron Corporation. He is also an active political operator at the Divisional, State and National levels.           

He has set out a blueprint of innovative ideas and mechanism to uphold the ideals of the club and power its corporate social responsibility in terms of technology and eco-friendly sustainable plans.

Oduborisa, in his acceptance speech, charged members to work with him as he alone cannot drive the ship of the prestigious club.

“It is with great joy and a deep sense of responsibility that I accept the mantle of leadership of our great Club, Oriwu Club Ikorodu”, Oduborisa said.

“I am indeed humbled and deeply impressed, with gratitude, for the confidence reposed in me by eminent members of the Club; and indeed honoured to be given the opportunity to serve in this capacity.

“I accept this role with pride and I will do my best, having elected me, to make you proud.  By the special grace of Almighty Allah and with the support of distinguished members, I will devote my time to the obligations and the duties of this post.

“Distinguished members, with all the opportunities and challenges that come with my acceptance to serve, I am of the belief that this journey will not be a smooth one if I am to walk it alone. So, I am counting on your maximum support to achieve the growth and goals as well as to transform the opportunities I have dreamt into stories of success”, Oduborisa solicited.

“I will like to specially acknowledge the efforts of our highly referred members of the Board of Trustees, Past Presidents and elders as well as the contributions of all other distinguished members, for sustaining the passion and upholding the ideals of Oriwu Club”.

Speaking on his administration’s plans, Oduborisa said that he would focus on the achievements of his predecessors while also highlighting his developmental plans.

“Gentlemen, the focus of our tenure shall be to build on the achievements of our predecessors. My executive committee members and I shall work assiduously as a team to build on the legacies of our founding members and take the Club to greater heights. This feat can only be achieved with the collective inputs of every member of the Club. Hence, we seek your collective support”, he again charged.

While speaking on his plans for facelift of the Club House, Oduborisa said that building plan of the existing structures will be designed for approval and general housekeeping; obsolete materials in the Club House to be discarded; security protocol to be laid for security personnel while there will be formalization of staff appointment in the area of Personnel management.

He said that the bar, kitchen and other facilities of the club will be revived for the satisfaction of members.

As a club in tune with the need for environmental protection, the new Chairman said that, “The Lawn Tennis section of the Club will be transformed into a Biodiversity Garden”.

As a club that is also concerned with the environment within which it is existing, the new President said that the club, during his tenure, will be established at the General Hospital, Ikorodu, and also ensure that the club consult with appropriate quarters for the rehabilitation of the dilapidated Ikorodu – Shagamu road among which the club is situated.

“A Dialysis Center will be established by the Club at the General Hospital, lkorodu.

“Appropriate quarters will be approached on how to fix the dilapidated Ikorodu-Shagamu road”.

He thanked his predecessor, Prof. Adebayo Ninalowo, the immediate past Pro-Chancellor of Lagos State University, for the enviable achievements of his tenure in the annals of the club.

General Secretary,  Barr. ‘Sina Jaiyesinmi – Social Secretary, Dr. Mobolaji Olukoya – Publicity Secretary, TPL Hakeem Animashaun – Sports Secretary, Mr Taiwo Shebioba – Auditor, Prof. Adebayo Ninalowo – Ex-Officio I and Chief ‘Niyi Banjoko – Ex-Officio II.
