New Captains have been installed for the 12th and 21st Company of the Lads and Lasses Brigades of The African Church Bethel Cathedral, Ikorodu.
While Iluyombo David was installed as the Lads Captain, Adesanya Oreoluwa took charge as the Lasses Captain.
Both presided over the parade activities after their installation.
During the Special 38th Enrolment/Rededication Service held at The African Church Bethel Church Cathedral on Sunday, October 31, 2021, 12 new members were also enrolled into the company.
The Brigadier General/Chief Commander, Joint movement, The African Lads & Lasses Brigades, The African Church, Nigeria & Overseas, CSP Oni A. Odunlami (Rtd.), GCCF, CCF, presenting the new members for enrolment, said:
“Your Lordship and dear father in Christ, before God and this congregation here present, and having tested and found the new members fit and acceptable for enrolment as members of the African Church Lads Brigade and Lasses Brigade 12th and 21st company attached to The African Church, Bethel Cathedral Church, Ikorodu, Lagos, I now present them for enrolment and rededication”.
Masters Bada Aro, Adelabu Oluwadamilare and Adelabu Damilola are the three new members of the 12th Lads Brigade, while Miss Kasali Adenike, Osho Naomi, Joye Happiness, Adelabu Adesola, Adelabu Hilary, Adelabu Denrinsola, Adelabu Emmanuella, Oyejola Marvellous and Adepeju Akanni are newly enrolled members of the Lasses Brigade.
CSP Oni A. Odunlami (Rtd), in his address, thanked the Church for their support so far for members of the company.
He was represented by SABG Taiwo Aboyade Cole.
He charged eminent members of the Church to ensure that youths are assisted with employment so as to retain them and make them contribute to the development of the African Church.
The BG also called on the Church to assist the 12th and 21st Lads & Lasses Brigades in getting new set of drums and other musical instruments.
During the service, six senior officers, including Gboyega Shodipe, Adelabu Olumide, Adelabu Bukola, Adselabu Kehinde, Tope Bamgbose and Adegbola Olamilekan, and eight junior officers, were promoted.
Musical concert was also staged during the service to raise funds for the Brigade drums and other musical instruments with SABG Olajide Smith performing ‘March From Scipio’ by George Frederic Handu while SABG Olumide Adelabu performed, ‘Look and Live’ by Williams A. Oyden.
The third performance was by SABG Olukayode Bilewu with DB Oluwaseun Ajayi conducting.
Also present at the Enrolment ceremony was Captain of the Boys Brigade, Ikorodu, Captain Adesuyi Olalekan.
