It has been commendations galore across social media platforms related to Ikorodu for Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, Chairman, Federal House of Representatives Committee on Defense and the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, following his motion that brought hope of completion to the abandoned Igbogbo Federal Medical Centre.

The medical facility, located down the Iyewa Street in Igbogbo and facilitated by the former Minister for Works, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, was nearing completion when it was abandoned 13 years ago.

Drugs supplied for the use of the facility have since expired while other equipment are nowhere to be found.

Following a motion moved by Rep. Benson on the floor of the House, titled, ‘Urgent Need To Complete the Abandoned National Primary Health Centre In Igbogbo, Ikorodu Federal Constituency’, on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, the House has resolved as follows:

That, “the National Primary Health Care Development Agency should include the funding for the completion of the Federal Medical Centre, Igbogbo, in the 2022 budget estimate”.

That, “the House Committee on Appropriation should make fund available for the completion of the facility”.

That, “the House Committee on Legislative Compliance should ensure the resolution of this House is put to action”.

Kunle Shopitan, a teacher and resident of Igbogbo, reacting to the news on THE IMPACT platform, said that it gladdens his heart.

“This gladdens my heart. Thumbs up for this@Hon JB.

“Thanks for doing your legislative work”, he said.

Elder James Alabi, a chieftain of the Igbe community association, described Rep. Benson’s action as leadership, adding that the facility would serve a greater number of residents when completed.

 “That’s leadership!

“Once this is done, over 50 percent of the population will stand to benefit.

 “Thanks, our Honourable Jimi Benson”.

Also commenting on THE IMPACT, Elder Olu Omoniyi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Odogunyan, Ikorodu North LCDA, said:

“Responsive and impactful stride in the right direction.  God bless you”.

Femi Adinlewa, former Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Ddemocratic Party (PDP) who recently decamped into the All Progressives Congress (APC), in his own response, wrote:

“Thank you my incoming governor”.

Ohi Obadan, a public commentator and social media influencer who resides in Lajo town in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, described the move as exemplary.

 “Great Exemplary Stewardship”, he said.

“The onus to follow, escalate and pressurize relevant agencies to actualize now falls on all of us “INFLUENCERS” and others in and around the corridor of power”, he added.

A former Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and chieftain of the APC, Prince Jimoh Ogunmuyiwa, simply prayed for the Federal lawmaker that :

“May your shadow never grow less”.
