Chief B.O. Benson’s Death: Family Opens Condolence Register As Dignitaries Visit Widow

Chief (Mrs) Adunola Benson, the widow of late Asiwaju of Ikorodu and former NBA National President, Chief Babatunde Olushola Benson, SAN, KJW walking pass the point where her late husband’s condolence register was placed on Friday.

Dignitaries, groups, residents and family members have started trooping to the estate of the Asiwaju of Ikorodu Kingdom and former National President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Chief Babatunde Olusola Benson, SAN, KJW, who passed on Thursday (yesterday).

When our reporters visited the estate of the late legal guru at Molatori along Ibeshe road in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division in the morning (today), the family has opened a condolence register with a big frame of late Benson in red Aso Oke (traditional attire) while a cap was also placed on the table.

Some of the dignitaries and family members on ground this morning to pay condolence visit were Oba Segun Benson, the Olojodu of Ojodu, Olubeshe – in – Council who brought with them the staff of the Olubeshe of lbeshe, Oba Richard Ogunsanya, Mr Rotimi Erogbogbo, the Chairman of Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS) and members of his executive council and Prince Bayo Ogunleye, former Vice Lay President, The African Church, Lagos West Diocese Missionary Diocese among others.

Guests that came were seen speaking with the widow of the late legal guru, Chief (Mrs) Adunola Benson, before taking their seat under the canopy.

Chief Benson, who died at the age of 89, according to report, was planning to have his 90th birthday celebration with his grandchildren in a few weeks time.

He was the first Chairman of the socio – cultural and development group, Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS) and former Lay President of the Methodist Church of Nigeria.

The late Asiwaju of Ikorodu also had the enviable record of being the only lawyer to have served as the National General Secretary and President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
