Senator Abiru Congratulates Frontline Columnist, Nation Newspaper Editorial Chairman, Sam Omatseye At 60

The Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District and former Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Polaris Bank PLC, Sen. Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, has joined millions of others in congratulating a foremost columnist and the Chairman of the Editorial Board of The Nation Newspaper, Mr Sam Omatseye, on his 60th birthday.

In a release signed by the Senator on Tuesday (today), Abiru commended Omatseye, who is also a Television presenter, for using journalism as a means for social engineering.

Abiru, in the release, tagged, ‘Omotseye, Hearty 60th Birthday Celebrations’, also described the veteran journalist as master in the art of communication with his command and excellent use of literary expressions which he said stands him out.

“I join other eminent Nigerians in celebrating God's faithfulness over your life in the last 60 years”, the Senator said.

“As an avid reader of your widely read weekly column, In Touch, in The Nation Newspaper, and fan of The Platform’s on TVC, I can attest to how you have used your journalism to champion the cause of the masses and held power to account on behalf of the people”, Abiru added.

“Your command of language is legendary. The literary and historical references you often used to spice your masterpieces stands you out exceptionally out of the pack as a writer who is constantly sharpening his mind with books.

“As a courageous Columnist, subjects and figures many writers dread you scrutinises, The In Touch touches everyone from the lowest to the mightiest.

“Sam, I encourage you to keep the fire burning as a renowned intellectual and people’s advocate through your various public engagement platforms.

“I pray that Almighty God continues to bless you as you age gracefully. Congratulations, and Happy Birthday! ”, he prayed and congratulated the columnist.
