“We have been consulting with people in authority, regarding the establishment of police stations in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and the likes of Sen. Tokunbo Abiru has supported us in this regard while the Commissioner of Police has given approval to his team to check and we have been given approval for more police stations”, he said.

“We have been given approval for the siting of a police station at Elepe and the family just brought to me a document releasing six plots of lands on which the police station will be established.

“We have equally been given approval for another police station in Agunfoye to solve insecurity problems in that axis too.

“We are also equally pushing for a Marine Police post and we have equally written in that regard and are discussing where to establish it”.

The Council Chairman, while stating how his administration has been able to curb crimes in his domain, said that the Joint Task Force (JTF) established by the council, has been effective in dealing with the situation.

“We inaugurated a Security Local Joint Team Force and provided them with a power Bike and walkie-talkies.

“We are trying and also ready to do more. We just provided  walkie – talkies to Joint Task Force (JTF) which connect every angle of the division.

“We have been able to bring our security outfit together with electronic gadgets”.

He said that it was the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA’s JTF that foiled a recent armed robbery at Elepe in a joint operation with the men of the Nigerian Police.

“If we can recall that there was a particular release by the Commissioner of Police about two weeks ago stating that there was an armed robbery incident somewhere in Ikorodu and the local security and the police took charge and made sure that the robbers were apprehended and in the course of exchange gun fires, two of the armed robbers were shot dead”, he said.

“It was actually our JTF that worked with the police in the operation”, the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Chairman confirmed.

“It was with our walkie talkies that I got in contact with the Chief Security Officer and he connected immediately with the DPOs and they moved to Elepe to foil the armed robbery around 4.30am. The armed robbers had finished operating and they were moving out when the combined team engaged them.

“This is to show how effective the walkie talkies have helped us and how ready we are to solve security challenges”, he said.
