IKODASS Releases 2021 Election Time Table

 The tenure of the current administration of the Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), led by Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, is gradually winding down as the body’s electoral committee released the time – table for election.

The election, which is slated for  1.00pm on Sunday, March 28th, 2021, would be held at a General Council Meeting of the Association that would come  up at the Ikorodu Town Hall.

 According to the release signed by the Chairman of the IKODASS Electoral Committee, Prince Omotayo Benson, and the Secretary, Comr. Pelumi Olalekan Rado, the procurement of the nomination forms for all the offices which commenced on March 1, 2021, will closed on March 21.

A total  number of 22 positions, the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, Vice Chairman, General Secretary, Assistant General Secretary and Treasurer among others, are expected to be contested for by members of different associations and clubs that are registered with the IKODASS.

All the offices of the socio – cultural body are also exclusively preserved for indigenes of Ikorodu.

“Candidates aspiring for the offices of the Chairman, Deputy Chairman, and Vice Chairman respectively are expected to present a maximum of 2-page Plan for the Association and it should reach the Electoral Committee on/before Monday, March 22nd, 2021, through the IKODASS Secretariat”, the release stated.

The screening exercise for candidates is scheduled to take place by 10.00am on Wednesday, March 24th, 2021, at the IKODASS Secretariat, Ikorodu Town Hall, Olubi /Owolowo Street, Ikorodu.

“Any Nominee who declines to appear before the Electoral Committee during the screening exercise will be disqualified”.

Candidates for the positions of Treasurer, Financial Secretary and Internal auditor are expected to be  professional Accountant or knowledgeable in Accounting Procedures while those aspiring for the position of the Legal Adviser must be a legal practitioner or person with good knowledge of the law.

The electoral guideline also stipulates that the candidate for the position of the Publicity Secretary must be a professional in print/electronic media or an efficient Public Relations Practitioner.

Officers elected, according to the release, would be sworn – in on Sunday, April 26th, 2021, at a General Council Meeting of the Association that would be held at the Ikorodu Town Hall.
