Assembly Land Grabbing Ad Hoc Committee Submits Report

Hon. Sanai Agunbiade, the Majority Leader of the House and the Chairman of the 8-Man Adhoc Committee, laid the report during the Assembly plenary on Monday.

The adhoc committee, set up on Land Grabbing by the Lagos State House of Assembly to look for ways to check the resurgence of the activities of the Ajagungbales’ (land speculators) in the state, has submitted its report to the house.

The committee had organized a public hearing where stakeholders including members of the executive were present on Wednesday, December 23, 2020.

At the public engagement that was tagged, “Ways to Check The Resurgent Activities of Land Grabbers in the state”, stakeholders called on the state government to follow the process laid down in the Land Use Act of 1978 regarding the acquisition of land from families or communities.

They also passed a vote of no confidence on the Nigerian Police and civil servants in the state who they alleged of contributing to land problems.
