The team, led by its Vice Chairman, Alhaja Basirat Akinsanya, arrived at the baby ward of the General Hospital at 9.42.00am and were warmly received by the Medical Director/ Chief Executive Officer of thehospital, Dr Taiwo Hassan, and other management staff.
While welcoming and introducing the IKODASS team to the mother of the first baby, Dr Hassan said:
“This is the team of IKODASS, the umbrella body of all societies and associations in Ikorodu. They are here to present some gifts to you”.
He said that baby Oduwole, who was born at 12.08am today, is the first baby to be born in the hospital in 2021 according to the hospital records provided by the matron in-charge of the ward.
The baby was asleep in his colt when the IKODASS team visited while the mother laid on the bed beside her.
Alhaja Akinsanya, while addressing the mother of the first baby of the year, said that the visit is an annual programme for the socio-cultural group, during which they make presentation to the first baby born in the hospital on the new year day.
“It is a yearly tradition to visit the hospital and give donations to the first baby of the year”, she said.
“This is our own way of identifying with the new baby, his/her mother and family generally.
“We thank the Medical Director of the hospital, management team and entire staff of the General Hospital, Ikorodu, for providing adequate care for mothers and their babies”.
IKODASS also donated gift items to the mother of the second baby born at 1.42am by Mrs Adebeshin.
