Ikorodu Rejoices Over Olusanya’s Confirmation As Full-Fledged Commissioner

Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, Governor of Lagos and Ms. Bisola Olusanya, the new Commissioner for Agriculture.

It was jubilation galore across social media platforms related to lkorodu Division Tuesday as Ms. Bisola Ruth Olusanya, was confirmed as the substantive Commissioner in-charge of the Ministry of Agriculture in Lagos State.

The confirmation came via a release by the Head of Service, Lagos State, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola.

Ms Olusanya, the former Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture, was appointed as the acting Commissioner in June after the resignation of the former Commissioner for Agriculture, Prince Gbolahan Lawal who became a traditional ruler.

Youth groups, traditional institutions, political leaders and others across Ikorodu division have been asking Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to confirm the former acting Commissioner as a substantive Commissioner and, however, have commended the Governor’s decision when it was announced on Tuesday.

Hon. Babajimi Benson, Member, House of Representatives representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, while congratulating the new Commissioner, also thanked the Governor for the gesture.

“While thanking our amiable Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the gracious approval, I know that Ms Abisola’s confirmation is a testament to her dedication to achieving the T.H.E.M.E.S mantra of the current administration #ForAGreaterLagos.

“We in Ikorodu Division are proud of your exploits. More grace”, Hon. Benson added.

Speaking with THE IMPACT, the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Representatives, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade commended the Lagos State Governor for listening to the yearnings of Ikorodu people by confirming Ms. Olusanya as Commissioner for Agriculture six months after she was appointed in acting capacity.

While congratulating Ms Olusanya, the four – term lawmaker also charged the new Commissioner to continue to prove her qualities that made the Governor to elevate her from the position of a Special Adviser to acting Commissioner and now, the Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos.

Mr Toyin Gafaar Bolowotan, Director – General, Lagos State Sports Commission, in his own congratulatory message said:

“Congratulations to my dear sister, Abisola Ruth Olusanya on her confirmation as the substantive Honorable Commissioner for Agriculture by Mr Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

“Wishing you a success filled tenure as you continue to make Lagos and indeed Ikorodu proud.

Former Executive Secretary, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr Taiwo Orenuga, described the appointment as a big feat for the Ikorodu Division and like Oliver Twist, asked for more.

“A Big CONGRATULATIONS, especially to Ikorodu Division. Looking forward for more”.

Femi Adinlewa, the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ikorodu, also put aside party politics to congratulate Ms Olusanya.

He nevertheless said that the appointment will not make the Division jettison its pursuit for inclusion in the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission where it is currently being excluded.

“Congratulations to Ms Abisola Olusanya on your confirmation as the substantive Commissioner for Agriculture in Lagos State and to Ikorodu division.

“We should not relent in demanding for the membership of the Local Government Service Commission. We pray for God’s wisdom for you in your new assignment”.

Comrade Semiu Fasasi, Chairman, NASU, Lagos State Polytechnic, in his own remarks, stated:

“Congratulations!!! More gains to the people!”

A Principal, Mr Afuwape, stated that the appointment given to Ms Olusanya is well deserved.

“Congratulations Honourable Commissioner. This is a position that is well deserved. I wish you success in this new role”.

Mr Monday Ohi Obadan, a community developer, described the appointment as a welcome development.

“Congratulations to all Ikorodians. This is a welcome development. We still plead that our slots in the MDAs should also be filled ooo!”

Mr Owolabi Anifowoshe, a former aspirant for House of Representatives, also congratulated the new Commissioner.

“Congratulations to our dear sister on her confirmation as a substantive commissioner for Agriculture…It’s a well deserved one”.

In its release, the National Association of Ikorodu Division Students (NAIDS) said that Ms Olusanya’s elevation is a further attestation to her sterling qualities.

“Your confirmation is a well deserved elevation and also a further attestation to your level of competency to direct the affairs of the ministry. 

“We at National Association Of Ikorodu Division Students are proud of you and we pray God Almighty grant you the wisdom to continue   to pilot the affairs of the ministry”.

De – Vanguard, a developmental and political group in Igbogbo, also in a release, stated:

“Without any doubt, your diligence, great intellect and skills since your appointment as a Special Adviser portray you as a round peg in a round hole.

“It only takes a critical understudy of your  activities, execution of projects and brilliant ideas to pre-empt this position as your eventual destination.

“We pray that you are positively reinforced with the wisdom and requisites to surpass expectations in your new assignment”.
