Just In: Lagos NYCN Gets New Chairman, Olalekan Oba

Comrade Olalekan Biliamin Sulaimon-Oba, the immediate past Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu Local Government Chapter, has emerged as the Chairman of the Lagos State Branch of the youth organisation, after about nine months of rigorous campaign.

He was elected on Saturday at a State Congress of the NYCN held at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

Oba who was sworn – in after his election, unveiled his agenda during an interactive engagement on THE IMPACT WhatsApp platform where he was a guest on Sunday, June 14, 2020.

The young media consultant, who said that “Changing the narratives is my mission”, campaigned based on “#TheYOUAgenda”.

On Wednesday, June 17, Oba crossed major hurdle when he was endorsed major stakeholders in Ikorodu Division endorsed him for the position. He was endorsed by Voluntary Youth Organisations (VYOs) and Coordinators of local branches of the body in the Division at a meeting held at the Skybar of the FunCity, along Lagos road.

He was subsequently endorsed by stakeholders at the Senatorial level to emerged as the flag bearer of the Lagos East Senatorial District at the State NYCN Congress/election.

As a community activist/developer, Oba also received support from royal fathers in Ikorodu Division, elected representatives, council chairmen and other stakeholders.

Profile

Lekan Biliamin Sulaimon-Oba was born on October 27, 1987 in Ikorodu town to the Sulaimon-Alejo family. He had his elementary school at Umar Bun Alkattab, Kaduna State, before proceeding to Oriwu Model College, Ikorodu, where he obtained his West African Examination Council Certificate (WAEC) with distinctions.

After graduating from the Mass Communication Department, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, he started his own media outfit, where he consults for individuals and organizations on media and public relations matters.

Oba is currently the Coordinator of NYCN in Ikorodu Local Government.

The aspirant, who has had caused to work with students’ groups in and out of Ikorodu Division, also pledged that his administration, if elected, would find means to work with students’ bodies to bring about proactive way of resolving their bursary challenges in various council areas and at the state level.
