iCare Monthly Food Distribution: 1,000 Families To Benefit From Special Eid Fitri Edition

iCare  Foundation, the initiative of the member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Babajimi Benson, would be distributing food items to 1,000 vulnerable families in Ikorodu Federal Constituency for the month of May, courtesy of its Foodbank.

The iCare Foodbank, which has been existing for about four years and distributing food items to at least five hundred families across Ikorodu division on monthly basis, would be staging a special edition of the food distribution for this month to celebrate the Eid-il Fitri festival which marks the end of the Ramadan fasting.

The May edition of the food distribution will be the fourth to be held by the Foundation since the COVID – 19 pandemic lockdown to provide food support for the vulnerable residents.

The distribution of the food items for this month was announced in a statement by the foundation on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, urging members of the public to nominate people that are in need such as elderly persons, widows, single parent or physically challenged.

“In her effort in easing the effects of the Covid-19 lockdown on the vulnerable individuals and in celebration of Eid Fitr, iCare Foundation welcomes nomination for its monthly FoodBank Food ration called ‘Apo Aanu’ (Bag of Mercy) to individuals and vulnerable families that are in need within Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

 “1000 households are expected to benefit from this edition and each members of the public is invited to nominate someone within Ikorodu Division that is in dire need such as elderly person, single parent, widow, physically challenged or any other vulnerable person”. 

While soliciting for sincerity on the part of those nominating, the Foundation added that its portal for nomination which opened on Tuesday evening, would be closed once the 1000 nomination benchmark is reached.

“We solicit your sincerity as we trust your judgment on this. The portal will be open by 8 pm on May 19 and it’s on a first come, first serve basis for genuine nominations that meet the above requirements and provide valid addresses and phone numbers of  the nominees and closes when it hits 1000 nomination benchmark.
