Nigeria’s Coronavirus Cases Rise To 1,095

-80 new cases in Lagos

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 114 new cases of the novel Coronavirus in Nigeria on Friday, April 24, the highest to be reported in the country since the outbreak of the deadly virus.

According to the NCDC, Lagos State, the epicenter of the virus has the highest infections with 80 cases.

Gombe and FCT followed with 21 and 5 cases.

According to the NCDC on its twitter handle;

“114 new cases of #COVID19 have been reported;

80 in Lagos

21 in Gombe

5 in FCT

2 in Zamfara

2 in Edo

1 in Ogun

1 in Oyo

1 in Kaduna

1 in Sokoto

“As at 11:30 pm 24th April there are 1095 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria.

NCDC also reported that 208 recovered coronavirus patients were discharged while 32 deaths recorded so far.

Meanwhile, the Incident Commander in Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Friday disclosed that ten more Coronavirus patients have been discharged by the state.

With the new recovered cases, 119 Coronavirus patients so far recorded in the state.

In a release signed by the Governor, Mr Sanwo-Olu, he announced that 3 females and 7 males from Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba and Onikan Isolation Centre were discharged on Friday.

“I am happy to inform you that 10 more #COVID19 patients; 3 females and 7 males including 3 foreign nationals, 2 Indians and 1 Filipino have been discharged from our isolation facilities at Yaba and Onikan to reunite with the society” he said.

“The patients, 3 from Mainland Infectious Disease Hospital, Yaba and 7 from Onikan Isolation Centre were discharged today having fully recovered and tested negative for #COVID19 in two consecutive test readings. 

“With this, the total number of cases successfully managed and discharged from our isolation facilities has risen to 117.

“What this shows is that as the number of confirmed cases rise, we are also maintaining a significant discharge rate of our active cases which unequivocally shows that our medical interventions and management of the cases are working.

“While I am encouraged by the support we have received so far from the good citizens of the State in the battle against #COVID19, I urge you all not to relent, keep faith with us trusting that this war is a must win!
