Ikorodu West, Igbogbo/Bayeku Councils Continue Fumigation Exercise

Councils in Ikorodu Division have sustained the fumigation exercise directed by the state government as one of the precautionary measures to stop the spread of the CONVID – 19, also known as Coronavirus, and prevent it from entering the division.

THE IMPACT, while covering the Day 4 of the lockdown in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), saw the council’s fumigation team led by the Chairman, Princess (Hon.) Jumoke Jimbo – Ademehin, fumigating public places and houses.

The team fumigated two of the Primary Health Centres (PHCs) being managed by the council at Ori-Okuta and Majidun. Also fumigated was the All Progressives Congress (APC) office located along the Agric – Owutu – Isawo road.

Speaking with THE IMPACT after fumigating Ori-Okuta PHC, Hon. Ademehin stated that:

“The exercise is in furtherance of the directive of the state governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu who provided every council in the State with equipment needed to fumigate there councils as part of the efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the state”, she stated.

She added that public places and other areas in the council would be fumigated as precautionary measure against CONVID – 19 spread.

“Our intention is to fumigate all the PHCs, markets, palaces, council secretariat and other areas within the council. We have to compliment the efforts of the state governor in ensuring that the virus is prevented from spreading further to the extent of threatening our existence”, she stated.

“We are going to use this period of the lockdown to do the fumigation of all public places since they are now deserted”.

Hon. Ademehin told THE IMPACT that the council would continue with the fumigation exercise even after the deadly virus might have been totally checked.

Our reporter, while on monitoring mission of the compliance with the lockdown on Friday, April 3, 2020, also saw the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Chairman, Builder Sesan Daini, leading his team in fumigating the Igbogbo night market.

Like his Ikorodu West LCDA counterpart, Builder Daini stated that the exercise is a continuous exercise.
