Community Journalists In Ikorodu Honour Pa Owolabi

-Late broadcaster for burial on Saturday

Ikorodu Community Media Practitioners (IKOCOMP) have concluded plans to honour the late veteran broadcaster, Pa Olatunji Owolabi, who was actively engaged with the Radio Lagos/Eko FM until his death at the Ikorodu General hospital, Ikorodu, on Sunday, January 5, 2020.

An event tagged, ‘Legendary Night of Honour’, where media practitioners and other eminent personalities would gather with the family members of the deceased in honor of the veteran broadcaster,  is set to hold on Thursday, March 19, 2020, at 5pm.

The event would hold at the Factor Corridor, Olubi Street, Ikorodu, under the Chairmanship of Otunba Ayodele Eleso, the Agbaakin of Ikorodu Kingdom and former Commissioner for Information, Lagos State.

Among eminent personalities expected at the event are Hon. Babajimi Benson, Member, Federal House of Representatives, Hon. SOB Agunbiade, the Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly and Ms Bisola Olusanya Olusanya, Special Adviser to the Governor on Agriculture.

Others are Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, Chairman, Ikorodu-Oga Development Association (IKODASS), Prince Rotimi Ogunleye, President, Peacock of Ikorodu and former Commissioner for Information, Prince Ganny Awobajo, Publisher, Ikorodu News, Alhaji Monzor Olowosago, Publisher, Oriwu Sun, Hon. Sunmi Odesanya, former Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Otunba Saheed Ibikunle, Member, LSUBEB, Barr SOK Shillings, former Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association NBA), Ikorodu and Alhaji Lanre Kuye, Deputy Registrar (Information) and PRO, LASPOTECH, Prince and Olori Abiola Kosoko and Comrade Fakolade Oluwafemi, Chairman, NUT, Ikorodu.

Also expected are Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Chairman, Ikorodu LG, Hon. Jumoke Ademehin, Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA, Hon. Adeola Banjo, Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Builder Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Comrade Fathiu Salisu, Chairman, Ijede LCDA and Hon. Wasiu Agoro, Chairman, Imota LCDA among others.

Pa Owolabi, 82, was a reporter with Radio Lagos/Eko FM, covering Ikorodu Division, Epe and Ibeju-Lekki axis of Lagos State.

The deceased, popularly called ‘Owo-Blow’, ‘Gbeborun’ and ‘Baba Owo’ by his admirers and friends, also worked with the Punch newspaper and Lagos Television (LTV).

Service of Songs for the deceased is scheduled to hold on Friday, March 20, 2020, while his remains would be buried on Saturday, March 21, in Ikorodu.
