Hon. Benson’s iCare Movement Distributes Food Items To Constituents For Ramadan

The member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Hon. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has stated that this month’s ‘Apo Anu’ (bag of mercy) distribution is meant to support Muslim Constituents in breaking their fast.

The food bank initiative of the re-elected lawmaker, which has been going on consistently for three years now, has 500 people as beneficiaries who are given bags of food items containing rice, beans, milk, sugar, beverages and others, every month.

“It’s about three years since we have started distributing ‘Apo Anu” to our constituents who are in needs and we have been consistent with it.

“As we have also stated, it is our own way of supporting those in need so that they will not be starved.

“This month’s edition is specially dedicated to our people that are observing Ramadan fasting . We are distributing the bags of food items to another set of 500 beneficiaries to assist them and their families in in breaking their fasting ”.

The young lawmaker also stated that the gesture is in tandem with the teaching of the Holy Quoran which directs humanity to be kind towards one another during the Ramadan period and in all seasons.

“As the holy month of Ramadan is rounding off with the approach of the crucial last 10 days , we decided, as it is our usual practice and according to the teachings of the holy Quran to extend love and care to our fellow faithful, to donate food sacks through the iCare foodbank to hundreds of residents of Ikorodu division .

 “This gesture is aimed at giving recipients some form of relief while restoring their faith in humanity”.

Hon. Benson stated that he plans to increase the number of beneficiaries in his quest to help many families to fight hunger .

“It is my humble prayer that the iCare Foodbank will be more empowered in  not too distant future to cater to a larger audience and help them to fight the scourge of hunger in our society (Amen)”. .

Mayor Deen Sanwoola, the Director-General, iCare Movement, in a chat with our reporter, wished Muslims that are observing fasting a fruitful Ramadan and assured the generality of people in Ikorodu Federal Constituency that ‘Apo Anu’ (food bank) and other initiatives of the lawmaker will continue to assist and provide succor for them.

Ola Ameen, Vice Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Mr Kunle Olambiwonnu, Secretary to the Ijede LCDA and Barr. Ade Ayeni, Secretary to the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA.
