-Doctor recommends inclusion of marrow in her surgery

Mrs Funke Awoyemi, the Chairman of THE IMPACT Group committee setup to raise fund for the kidney transplant and upkeep of the 17 year old kidney failure victim, Miss Ganiyat Sanni, has presented a gloomy picture of the current situation of the victim .

Ganiyat was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) by the committee last Sunday night when her mum raised alarm over her condition. She has since being admitted at the hospital.

During a visit to the victim at the hospital on Tuesday (yesterday) by members of the committee led by its chairman, the doctor handling her case informed them that the victim needs another dialysis but this demand was contradicted by a senior doctor.

Speaking with our reporter at LASUTH after the visit, Mrs Awoyemi stated that :

“Ganiyat has undergone another session of dialysis and she is even due for another session but for the intervention of a senior doctor.

“His reason was that Ganiyat has emaciated a lot due to frequent stooling and inability to eat”.

Her blood level is very low, though 3pints of blood was recommended earlier. She was placed on the first one when the team got to the hospital .

She stated that Ganiyat’s mother always go everywhere in search of blood because the hospital does not have her blood type.

Mrs Awoyemi also stated that the doctor informed the team that they are trying to find the cause of the damage to Ganiyat’s body so that they can proffer adequate treatment.

“The doctor said there’s need to know the real cause of the damage to her body so that she can be treated before the transplant.

“He also recommended that marrow should be included in the surgery while he suggested discontinuation of a particular drug.

According to her, the doctor recommended a blood improvised injection to be given to Ganiyat two times a day which the committee members bought immediately.

Mrs Awoyemi once again appealed to the government and the general public not to relent in donating towards Ganiyat’s transplant and her general upkeep.

“Ganiyat is very weak and needs urgent support for her to live a healthy life.

“We once again appeal to the government to come to the aid of the girl and give her desired future.

“We are also calling on the general public not to relent in their supports, especially donations towards her kidney transplant. We need to get her into surgery as soon as possible. Let’s save the poor girl’s life”, she appealed.
