Asiwaju Basorun’s Biography For Launching Tomorrow

Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Reuben Basorun

As part of the activities marking the 80th birthday celebration of the elder statesman, politician, author, banker, lawyer and first Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Reuben Basorun, his biography would be launched tomorrow (Saturday, October 20, 2018).

The book is authored by Pastor Soji Omotunde, General Manager, Training and Development, The Nation Newspaper.

Scores of family members, associates, friends, captains of industry, political figures and eminent dignitaries are expected to grace the event scheduled to hold at Mikkson Onas Event hall, situated on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Way, Igbogbo in Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.

The book launch is expected to be immediately followed by a Luncheon at the same venue.

Meanwhile, a special Church service to mark the birthday celebration was held at the Gospel Church of Cherubim & Seraphim Cathedral, Orile-Iganmu, Lagos, on Thursday,October 18, 2018, and was well attended by dignitaries including the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Tunji Bello, Senator representing Lagos East, Sen. Gbenga Ashafa and the Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State for the 2019 General Elections, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

There were also traditional rulers in Ikorodu division and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State.

A special Muslim Service was also conducted at the Igbogbo Central Mosque on Friday, October 19, 2018, to mark the special event.

Present at the Muslim Service were Hon. Adeola Banjo, Chairman, Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area, Alhaji Junaid Owokodu, former Council Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, Mr Taiwo Orenuga, former Executive Secretary, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and party leaders

Asiwaju Bashorun, an astute politician and one of the few living Awoists,  clocked 80 on Monday, October 15, 2018.
