Oro Festival Holds Tuesday In Ikorodu

His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Kabiru Adewale Sotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu

Tuesday, May 8, 2018, has been announced by the palace of the Ayangbure of Ikorodu as the scheduled date for the 2018 Magbo festival.

 

His Royal Majesty, Oba (Engr.) Kabir Adewale Sotobi, the Ayangbure of Ikorodu Kingdom and the permanent Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Council of Obas and Chiefs, made the announcement in a release dated April 23, 2018 and  titled, “Magbo Festival 2018”.

 

The release was personally signed by the monarch.

 

In the letter, the monarch warned female residents to adhere strictly to the rules of the Oro festival which forbid them from coming outside on the day of the celebration.

 

“This is to notify you of the above mentioned festival which is slated for Tuesday, 8th  May, 2018. According to the tradition, all females are forbidden to be seen outside their homes or move around the town on this date which is “ORO DAY”, the monarch had stated in  the release.

 

“Your cooperation towards the success of the festival will be appreciated. Thank you in anticipation of your support and God bless”.

 

Magbo festival is the first of the two Oro festivals organised annually in Ikorodu to appease the gods and ancestors of the town and pray for its prosperity and peace.
