The Sekumade-Elect, Prince (Engr) Basiru Aremu Sotonwa is set to be presented with the Staff of Office by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode.

The ceremony is slated for Thursday, February 1, 2018, at the Sekumade palace, Ipakodo in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu Division.

THE IMPACT gathered that his emergence was made possible after the warring families settled cases out of court about a year ago and resolved to embrace peace in the interest of the ancient community.

It was also gathered that the Lagos State Executive Council approved the selection of Engr. Sotonwa, who hails  from the  Oshomekun ruling house, as Oba-Elect at its meeting held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017.

THE IMPACT Newspaper had reported on its online platforms that the community is set to install new king almost 19 years after the late Oba Hassan Jimbo who joined his ancestors on May 29, 1999.

Prince (Engr) Basiru Aremu Sotonwa retired from the Lagos State Government service in 2002 after serving different capacities as Director, Electrical Services, Lagos Ministry of Works (1997-2002), Director, Jubilee Housing Scheme, Lagos State Ministry of Works (1993-1997), General Manager, Lagos State Electricity Board, Ikeja (1985 – 1993) and Chief Engineer, Lagos State Electricity Board (1981) among many other capacities.

After retiring from the service of the Lagos State Government, he assumed the position of Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, BASCOT Limited and BASCOT engineering Works, consulting and contracting engineering companies respectively.

The Oba-elect is a holder of Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronics and a national  and  international certified  engineer.
