It was a dawn of a new era for the people of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) when 500 youths who had been hitherto bound by the clutches of cultism got freedom.

This was recently made possible by the Executive Chairman of the Council, Hon. Salisu Jimoh Fatiu, at the event marking his first hundred days in office.

Hon. Fatiu, in his address at the event where he also rendered his account of stewardship to the residents of the council, urged the youths to ensure that their clean break with their past nefarious lifestyle is permanent, adding that a robust rehabilitation programme would be put in place to integrate them into the productive sector of the society.

While reeling out his achievements which contributed to the emergence of Ijede LCDA as one of the Best LCDAs in the state, Hon. Fatiu stated that on assumption of office, he embarked on a ‘Thank you tour’ to appreciate the electorate, held regular meetings with security agencies which have yielded peace and tranquility in the council, sank a borehole to provide water, constructed 250meters drainage along WEMA Bank road, laid the foundation of the new office block and hired some trucks to complement the Cleaner Lagos Initiative  in carting away refuse to designated points.
