Coalition Against COVID – 19 (CACOVID-19), on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, distributed cooked food to vulnerable people in Ikorodu Local Government and Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

About 2,000 residents were given cooked jollof rice, while about 500 facemasks were also distributed as part of the Coalition’s efforts in supporting the government to curtail the spread of the novel Coronavirus.

Alhaji Lateef Akinbode, an activist and the Coordinator of CACOVID – 19, Ikorodu Division, speaking with THE IMPACT at the Ikorodu Local Government Secretariat, stated that the Coalition will be staging a bigger relief intervention after the distribution of the food items in two councils.

Distribution of cooked food by CACOVID – 19.

“CACOVlD is a coalition of private individuals who came together to gather resources towards supporting vulnerable people who are affected by the lockdown and COVID – 19”, he said.

“This event is just a little palliative measure. It’s meant to serve cooked food for the less privileged, physically challenged, orphans, elderly people and widows.

“This one is just a part of CACOVID plans. In the next one or two weeks, there will be another programme when food items will be distributed to people in the grassroots.

“We are going to go directly to them to give them the raw food items”, he said.
