After weeks of ceaseless house-to-house and town hall campaigns, Team SOB, the campaign organization of the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly and the All Progressives Congress Party (APC) candidate for the Ikorodu Constituency I State Assembly seat, has now stormed streets in Ikorodu to further sell the ruling party and its candidates in the March 9 Governorship/Assembly elections to the electorate.

The campaign, tagged “Operation Take The Street” (OTS), commenced on Monday, March 4, as a long convoy of vehicle conveyed members of the campaign team to Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA)  to canvass for votes from the residents across the council.

The convoy hit the streets of Ipakodo before linking Sekumade road to Ogolonto from where the convoy moved to Lagos road to connect Agric and Owutu areas before berthing at Agbede community which was the first destination in Ikorodu North.

Several souvenirs were distributed to residents during the carnival-like campaign which received a rousing welcome in every area visited.

They moved from Agbede, which is a vast territory, to Ita-Oluwo, the border town between Lagos and Ogun State, propagating APC. From there, the team moved to Odogunyan where they had a stop-over to interact with different groups before proceeding to First Gate to campaign for the residents of Lasunwon-Lambo and Lagos State Polytechnic communities.

The convoy also visited Maya and Adamo before finally terminating the marathon campaign at Isiu late in the evening.

On the second day of OTS on Tuesday, March 5, the team started their campaign at Eluku palace at Itunpate where they interfaced with the chieftains and residents of  the area and other adjoining streets after which they moved to Agura, Gberigbe, another highly populated area in Ikorodu Constituency I and later Omitoro, where the team spent several hours combing nooks and crannies of the area to seek for support for APC candidates.

Thereafter, the campaign train, which included Hon. Agunbiade, his campaign Director-General, Alhaji Kabat Ajalogun, former Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Hon. Adeola Jokomba, a prominent activist and politician, Comrade Kehinde Okeowo, the Director of Sports, Sanwoolu Campaign Group, Mr Oluwatoyin Gafaar Bolowotan, a political strategist, Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo, Iya Oloja of Ikorodu, Alhaja Taofeekat Allison,  Chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Alhaji Waliu Daisi, as well as councilors and other political office holders in Ikorodu Constituency I and other prominent politicians, opinion and youth leaders, moved to APC Secretariat in Ikorodu before  finally terminating at Anibaba

The team on Wednesday visited more areas in Ikorodu local Government before storming Ikorodu West LCDA where they covered Ipakodo, Majidun, Agric and Owutu

According to Hon. Jimoh Olosugbo, a Political Strategist and Director-General, Onward Movement of Nigeria, the operational group of Hon. S. O. B. Agunbiade, “the street invasion is simply to cap our house-to-house and town hall campaigns that we have been embarking upon in the last couple of weeks”.

“The intention is to propagate our party and by extension, all our party’s candidates for the Governorship and State Assembly elections.

“We are practical politicians that believe in direct interaction with the electorate and we are confident to go out to the streets because we have been with our people since the Majority Leader and our symbol has been representing the good people of Ikorodu.

“In our going round, we did not have to speak much because what we have been able to do since our symbol has been in the house speaks ahead of our team. The masses love us and they received us with great enthusiasm and love”.
