Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Monday evening began moves to impeach Governor Akinwunmi Ambode over alleged gross misconduct. The lawmakers at its plenary on Monday evening accused the governor of committing atrocities bordering on gross misconduct and spending budget that had not been laid before the House or approved by the Assembly. Senate Adjourns Till Feb. 19 To Prepare For Election

The Senate on Thursday adjourned plenary till Feb. 19, without considering the 2019 Budget.   The senators would also use this period to prepare for the Feb. 16 Presidential and National Assembly elections.   The recess is coming only two weeks after the National Assembly resumed from the Christmas break.   The Senate did not consider the 2019 Appropriation Bill.   It however, passed the Minimum Wage Bill through first and second reading. -NAN

The House of Representatives has passed a bill seeking to criminalise estimated billing in the country, among other things The lower legislative chamber passed the bill on Tuesday after considering the report of its committee on power sector.
