‎Residents of Oke-Eletu, and others from adjoining communities turned out in good numbers to celebrate with the Chairman of the New Generation Community Development Association (CDA), Mrs Inasa -Thomas Oluwatosin Elizabeth, who marked her 50th birthday with free medical outreach.
‎
‎
‎The medical support for residents, which was part of the activities celebrating the golden jubilee of the community leader at the New Era CDA, Oke Eletu, on Saturday, September 26th, 2026.
‎
‎
‎
‎The medical intervention witnessed large numbers of families within and outside the community trooping out to benefit from the humanitarian gesture, themed, “Healthy Community, Stronger Together”.
‎


‎
‎Free health services provided on the day included blood pressure screening, sugar level testing, antimalaria treatment, deworming, and health education with counselling. Many community members took advantage of the opportunity to check their health status and received free treatment where needed.

‎
‎The outreach was organised by the celebrant as a way of giving back to the community on her milestone birthday, and the gesture was appreciated as people of different ages waited patiently for their turn as free services medical services were provided. They described it as a timely and thoughtful way of promoting good health within the community.

‎
‎Mrs Inasa -Thomas, speaking with our reporter who covered the event, said that supporting others and making people smile is part of her nature and natural for her, and was deliberately scheduled as part of the activities celebrating her 50th anniversary.

‎She also stated what informed the medical tests conducted.

‎”Well, it’s just my nature. I feel fulfilled when I do things for people. I’ve always been motivated to do things for people.
‎
‎
‎”Tests carried our are malaria and hepatitis B tests. That hepatitis B test was actually staged because three years ago, we recorded a death in our community. We lost one of our members to that. I also found out that a lot of people live with it without knowing That’s why I decided to help as many as I could to know their status. So, hepatitis B, malaria check-up, high blood pressure check-up and blood pressure, and sugar test were carried out on residents.

‎She said that the initiative will go a long way in supporting residents, especially members of the CDA that cannot afford their hypertension drugs.

‎”Well, I feel this will be helpful for a few of our members who are already diagnosed with hypertension, and unable to afford their medications, at least, I got them drugs. They will have something to use for the next one month minimum.
‎
‎
‎” Invariably, I think this will, at least, help them to save some funds for this period”,she added,.
‎
‎
‎Some of the beneficiaries that spoke with THE IMPACT commended the initiative.
‎
‎
‎Mr Adeola Benson , who came to check his health status, said that he was well attended to and commended the celebrant.

‎”Yes, I was well attended to.
‎

‎” God will continue to bless the person who did this because she has really assisted us.
‎

‎”She has brought medical personnel to us and prevented us from stressing ourselves going to hospitals. We are able to check our body to be sure we are okay.
‎
‎
‎Another beneficiary, Onibogun Sarah from Oko -Ope community, after being attended to by the medical personnel, offered prayers to the celebrant.
‎
‎
‎”God will bless her and continue to lift her up so that she can be able to do more than this”.
‎


‎
‎Mrs Precious, a resident of Tinubu Estate in Okeletu area of Ijede, said did not have any serious health complaint but that the medical personnel asked about her weight.
‎
‎
‎”Well, I generally didn’t have any complaint, although my blood pressure was an area of concern but not that it was anything serious, but it was an area of concern. They also spoke to me about weight management because I’m on the bigger side and how to maintain and manage it so it doesn’t become a problem later on”.
‎
‎ She expressed satisfaction at the way and manner that the exercise went.
‎
‎
‎”Yes, I was very satisfied.

‎”Well, I would like to say she’s doing an amazing job giving back to her community, and I pray God continues to bless her and uphold her. I pray that she will never suffer or have problems in her life.

‎”To give back to the community is a very beautiful thing, and I’m really just appreciative of the initiative because not everyone thinks of giving back to their community. So, it’s a really thoughtful thing she’s doing”.

‎
‎Mr Adewale Adeyinka, New Generation Estate, Ijede, lkorodu, who also came to check blood pressure and sugar level, also commemded the initiative.
‎
‎
‎”Yes, I was well attended to. The staff are nice and very caring. They are accommodating. They allowed us ask questions about our health and we were also engaged concerning our nutrition – what we eat, what we drink and the general wellness of our body.
‎
‎


‎
‎”I’ll want to say a very big thank you to Mrs. Inasa. You know, it’s not every day you see something like this. So, on behalf of myself and every other person. I want to say a very big thank you to her personally. More power to her elbow, more strength, and more years to celebrate”.
