A concerned resident of Ikorodu and political strategist, has advocated for a political strategy with focus on massive grassroots mobilisation that will result into unprecedented votes and electoral victory for the representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, in the forthcoming General Elections.
Tayo Odesanya, the concerned resident, urges an improvement on electoral outcome in 2023 for Rep. Benson, when he polled 60, 890 votes to secure his current third term to more significant figures that reflect the registered votes in Ikorodu as a way of compensating and appreciating the lawmaker’s impacts and development-driven representation.
He emphasised how the three – term lawmaker has made impacts across his federal constituency in terms of roads, educational interventions, medical infrastructures, human capital development, amongst others and still delivered brilliantly on his lawmaking duty, and the need to give him more bargaining strength and access with massive votes.
“The concept of the “Dividends of Democracy” has descended into hollow political rhetoric across Nigeria—a empty campaign slogan detached from everyday reality. Yet, Ikorodu stands as a striking counter-model. Here, tangible governance—motorable roads, political stability, functional public amenities, access to quality education, to mention but few —is an indisputable reality for residents.”
“Paradoxically, these material gains have not emerged from an executive quarter, where executive power and development mandates traditionally reside. Instead, this transformation has been driven from the legislature by Hon. Jimi Benson. Measured against systemic constraints, his legislative record and developmental drive in the Ikorodu Federal Constituency represent a historic departure from the status quo.”
Emphasising the need for massive votes that compliment Rep. Benson’s quality representation, Tayo Odesanya, stressed:
“When unprecedented performance upends standard governance expectations, political strategy must evolve from passive appreciation to active mobilisation. For the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the broader leadership in Ikorodu, the focus can no longer rest solely on securing routine electoral victories; it must centre on maximising political leverage. The previous tally of 60,890 votes—while a decisive win on paper—is a surprisingly meager yield when weighed against the monumental, transformative track record Hon. Jimi Benson has delivered across the constituency. Returning a figure that barely reflects Ikorodu’s massive demographic strength undersells the very leader who has redefined legislative governance in the region.”

If Ikorodu expects to command greater political leverage, negotiate higher-tier executive allocations, and secure an unassailable position at the centre of state and federal decision-making, the electorate must deliver an overwhelming statement at the polls.
