-Reveals plan to make Ikorodu medical tourism centre

The Chairman, Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL)/GTE, Odofin Adewunmi Adedeji Ogunsanya, SAN, has revealed that the plan of his group to establish a university owned by Ikorodu, was shelved due to political issues.
Odofin Ogunsanya, who is also the Chairman, MultiChoice Nigeria, however, said that the project would be achieved despite the challenges.
Although, he did not disclose details of the political issue, but he also revealed that the proposed university would be sited on 700 acres of lands in Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria.

He disclosed this at the 5th edition annual scholarship and bursary awards presentation by the IDPIL, held at PISTIS Hub, Oba Sekumade road, Ipakodo, Ikorodu.
“We have started building a university in Ikorodu. We have actually started and we got Prof. (Adebayo) Ninalowo to chair the mission. We aborted the plans because of some political issues in Ikorodu.
Stressing the IDPIL’s readiness to have the university, Odofin Ogunsanya said that massive lands have been secured in Imota for the project.
“We have started meetings and Kabiyesi Ranodu knows that we have secured over 700 acres for the project. We intend to have a university for Ikorodu.

“But God knows everything and we are at the moment suspending actions for a while for things to calm down a bit and see how things will unfold. But whatever the case, we are going to establish the university in Ikorodu”, Odofin Ogunsanya assured the audience in the large hall.
He added, “The land for the university is close to Imota and it was Oba Ranodu that assisted us in securing the land.
The Chairman, MultiChoice Nigeria, also hinted of the plan to make Ikorodu destination for medical issues.
“We want to also turn Ikorodu into a medical tourist town and we are on the mark and by the grace of God, we have the Governor who will be coming for commissioning and he has insisted that he will be coming with his Deputy, Dr . Obafemi Hamzat.

“By the grace of God, we are going to have the Renal Center and ICU center in Ikorodu, which I have to say with a lot of pride that it is the biggest in Southwest of Nigeria. It is bigger than LUTH, LASUTH and Gbagada; all of them put together, and we are having this in Ikorodu”.
Odofin Ogunsanya charged the scholarship and bursary awardees on the importance of education and also assured them of further support.
“To the awardees, a lot has been said, there’s not much I can say than stating that education is extremely important. It is up to you and we are here to support you.
“About three years ago in Ibeshe, I said publicly that we will support anyone that gains admission abroad with 10,000 dollars to augment his/her fees”.
