Demonstrating its ongoing dedication to technological advancement and youth empowerment, the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Tertiary Education, has announced the rollout of the Eko Digital Training programme for young residents in the Badagry and Ikorodu divisions.
The strategic initiative forms a central pillar of the present administration’s agenda, led by Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, focusing on educational excellence, digital literacy, and the development of vital entrepreneurial skills for the state’s youth demographic.
The intensive training programme will be held between September 7 and September 11, 2026, across two designated centres at Badagry Division Iba ICT Centre, Iba Town, Iba LCDA and Homat School of Basic Studies CBT Centre, Igbogbo, Ikorodu Division.
The training is designed to prepare participants for a dynamic global landscape; the curriculum blends digital literacy with essential business acumen. Key modules include: Cutting-edge introductions to artificial intelligence, fundamental digital skills and information technology training, professional development focused on emotional intelligence for career and personal success.
Addressing the training facilitators, group coordinators, management of the ministry and some of the participants in his Ikeja office during the week, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule, emphasised the state’s resolve to provide high-quality, practical education. He noted that the specialised courses are structured to equip participants with the competitive edge required to excel in modern career paths.
In the same vein, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Adeniran Kasali, added that strategic investments in digital education serve as a bedrock for building a globally competitive economy and reducing youth unemployment across the state. And urged participants in the two centres to grab the opportunity of the training to improve their digital and entrepreneurial skills and justify government investments in them.
He further appealed to the young eligible residents within Badagry and Ikorodu to take advantage of the free learning opportunity to build self-sustenance and professional capability.
