Ikorodu -Igbogbo Road at night in recent time

The attention of elected political office holders in Ikorodu Division has been called to the dangers and demerits of perennial darkness on major roads across Ikorodu at night.

They have been urged to address the situation with promptness.

‎The concerned resident, Mr Owolabi Anifowoshe, a community developer, social critic and former Ikorodu federal constituency seat aspirant, raised the important issue on THE IMPACT platform, urging the political office holders to assist Ikorodu Division in accelerating the activation of night life to enhance its economic growth by providing solar streetlights along Ota -Ona to Itamaga (Obafemi Awolowo Road, Ikorodu); Junction 24 to Igbogbo and Ita -Elewa to Ota Ona.

Aye’s Advert

‎He called out Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District; Prince Adedayo Ladega , Chairman, Ikorodu LG; Omo’ba Hammed Aroyewun, Chairman, Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, Dr Saheed Ibikunle, Permanent Member, LSUBEB and Special Adviser on Constituency Matters to Sen. Abiru and Mr Adedeji Osho, Special Adviser to Ikorodu LG Chairman on Tourism to act on the issue raised.

‎“Ota Ona to Itamaga, Sheriff to 24 Junction Igbogbo. And Ita-Elewa to Ota Ona need solar street lights at night to enhance our night life economy…these roads are hubs of night life and social-economic activities full of lounges, bars and night clubs….”

‎“I believe we can do it.. @Ladega @Sen. Abiru @Hon Ultimate Ibikunle @HOA Glo @Deji Osho, that’s your purview as SA to the Ikorodu LGA on Tourism.”

‎Also joining in the conversation, Prince Eniola (Wake-Up) Adeyemi, a youth leader and former Assembly aspirant, also added Itamaga to Gbodu which also falls within Ikorodu LG, as another area needing intervention.

‎“Itamaga Junction to Gbodu axis on Ijede Road also is very dark at night, the signs on the bumps or speed breakers are no more visible and the street lights are off. Urgent attention is needed to save lives before we usher in the festive seasons.”

‎‎Although, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, Senator representing Lagos East and Rep Babajimi Benson, the representative of Ikorodu federal constituency, have facilitated installations of solar streetlights on many roads and areas across the Ikorodu, but, there have been requests by residents in many areas for streetlights in recent times to aid security and improve social and economic life in the affected areas.
