The Imota Local Council Development Area in collaboration with the Community Development Committee (CDC) and Community Development Associations (CDAs), has set a target of mobilising at least 25,000 votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The target was announced on Monday, September 7, 2026, during a Community Stakeholders’ Engagement held at N.S. Sho Hotel, in Imota with Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson (JB), Member of the House of Representatives representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency.
The engagement, hosted by the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele (BSA), brought together traditional rulers, palace chiefs, political office holders, party leaders, community leaders, religious leaders, youths, women groups, CDC and CDA representatives, members of the iCare Foundation and other stakeholders within and outside the LCDA.
The meeting focused on grassroots mobilisation, community engagement and strengthening collaboration among stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Imota LCDA, Hon. Benson Sunday Ayodele, commended Rep. Babajimi Benson for his impactful representation and the developmental projects he has facilitated within Imota.
The Chairman highlighted the lawmaker’s interventions particularly in healthcare, education, electrification, infrastructure and digital development, noting that several of the projects have addressed longstanding needs within the community.
He assured Rep. Benson that Imota LCDA would mobilise massively in his support in 2027, while expressing confidence that the entire Ikorodu Federal Constituency would once again deliver strong electoral support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Rep. Benson and other APC candidates.
The Ranodu of Imota, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajibade Bakare-Agoro, CFR, Olufoworesete II, also commended Rep. Benson for his contributions to the development of Imota.
The monarch praised the lawmaker’s interventions in healthcare, road construction and education, noting that the projects have brought tangible benefits closer to residents.
He singled out the 80-bed Mother and Child Hospital in Imota as one of the most significant interventions facilitated through Rep. Benson’s representation.
The royal father added that the hospital has strengthened the healthcare infrastructure available to residents, particularly mothers and children.
Hon. Nurudeen Saka Solaja, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency II, while speaking stressed the need for sustained grassroots mobilisation, effective communication and regular interaction with residents.
He noted that achieving the 25,000-vote target would require the collective efforts of political structures, community leaders, youths, women and other critical stakeholders across the wards and polling units.
The APC Lagos State House of Assembly Candidate for Ikorodu Constituency I, Hon. Toyin Gafar Bolowotan, urged stakeholders communicate the achievements of the APC-led administration and developmental interventions recorded within the constituency effectively.
Similarly, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Ikorodu Constituency II, emphasised the need to strengthen grassroots structures, increase voter registration and PVC collection, and ensure that eligible voters are adequately sensitised ahead of the elections.
Ogboni Fuad Oki, an APC chieftain, commended Ikorodu for its strong electoral support for President Tinubu and praised Rep. Benson for his quality representation.
Oki urged stakeholders to improve on previous electoral performances, stressing the importance of sustaining Ikorodu’s political relevance and attracting more developmental opportunities to the division.
In his remarks, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson reaffirmed his commitment to continued grassroots engagement and development-focused representation.
He expressed his readiness to continue working with traditional institutions, political leaders, community associations and other stakeholders to strengthen community networks and promote greater participation in the democratic process.
The Director-General of iCare Foundation, Mayor Deen Sanwo-Ola, emphasised the importance of community developers and CDAs in driving grassroots engagement because of their closeness to residents.
He urged stakeholders to identify and coordinate eligible voters within their respective wards and polling units and develop an organised mobilisation structure ahead of the elections.
He also introduced a mobile application designed to support the broader objective of mobilising 250,000 votes across Ikorodu Division, describing the platform as an additional avenue for communication, engagement and mobilisation.
