The representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rep. Babajimi Benson, has continued to strengthen his connection with the people in the grassroots in his constituency and mobilise them towards electoral success for his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 General Elections.
As part of his grassroots mobilisation, the three – term lawmaker who secured fourth ticket to stand in the 2027 general election, on Wednesday engaged over 600 Community Development Associations (CDAs) in Ikorodu Local Government and Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in his constituency at different sessions.
Mayor Deen Sanwoola, DG, iCare Foundation, the operational arm of the lawmaker coordinated the sessions.
Rep. Benson in a statement after the grassroots engagement workshops held at the secretariats of the two councils, said that the parley afforded him another opportunity to address civic issues, government interventions and people’s priorities.
“Today, I participated in grassroots engagement workshops in Ikorodu Local Government and Ikorodu North LCDA, bringing together CDA representatives and stakeholders to discuss civic participation, government interventions and community priorities.”
Speaking of his experiences at the two sessions, he said: “At the Ikorodu Local Government session, hosted by Executive Chairman Prince Adedayo Abdullateef Ladega, representatives of over 200 CDAs engaged on the achievements of the present administration and ongoing and forthcoming Federal Government interventions.
“I thereafter joined the session hosted by Executive Chairman Mayor Ola Ameen Apanishile in Ikorodu North LCDA. I was impressed by the strong representation from over 400 CDAs across the LCDA, which boasts the highest number of CDAs and Baales in Lagos State. Their participation demonstrated the strength and vibrancy of grassroots leadership in Ikorodu North.
Stressing the importance of the engagement sessions, Rep. Benson, said:
“These workshops represent one of several strategies being deployed to strengthen our connection with the grassroots, increase informed participation and build stronger presence at the polling-unit level. The exercise will continue across the remaining four local councils, followed by engagements with major associations, traditional institutions and other critical stakeholders across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.”
“When government and communities engage directly, listen and work together, grassroots participation becomes stronger and development more responsive. Together, we continue to engage, listen and build a Greater Ikorodu,” Rep. Benson added.
He thanked Prince Adedayo Abdullateef Ladega and Mayor Ola Ameen Apanishile, Chairmen, Ikorodu Local Government and Ikorodu North LCDA respectively, for hosting the engagements and also Ogbeni Fuad Oki, for his insightful analysis and counsel at the engagement. He also thanked Mr. Toyin Gafaar “Bolowotan”, the APC candidate for Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikorodu Constituency I, for joining.
