A few months after the announcement of the proposed Command Secondary School, Ikorodu, a formal letter of approval has been issued for its establishment within the 174 Battalion, Odogunyan, Ikorodu, with Rep. Babajimi Benson, representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, describing the development as a landmark initiative that would bring more education opportunities to Ikorodu and families of military personnel.
Rep. Jimi Benson who is the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defence, and responsible for facilitation of the school, said on Monday after receiving the letter of approval from The Nigerian Army.
“I warmly welcome the approval of my request for the establishment of a Command Secondary School at 174 Battalion, Ikorodu, Lagos State – a landmark development that will expand quality educational opportunities for children of military personnel, their families and adjoining communities.
”I personally received the approval today (Monday). It demonstrates what purposeful leadership can achieve when genuine needs are identified and addressed. The Nigerian Army has recognised the importance of accessible and affordable education for children within the barracks and surrounding communities, further advancing the welfare of personnel and their families.”
He thanked President Bola Tinubu, the Chief of Army Staff for the approval and the Governor of Lagos State for his support for expansion of educational infrastructures in the state.
“I sincerely appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for his visionary leadership and commitment to initiatives that improve the lives of Nigerians.”

My special appreciation goes to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his continued support for educational development in Lagos State.”
The Chairman, House Committee on Defence emphasised the important impact of the school on Ikorodu and the country at large, stating that it is a worthwhile investment for future development.
“For Ikorodu, this is a moment of excitement and gratitude. Beyond serving military families, the school will be an important educational asset to the wider community. Our people are ready to support its successful take-off and sustainability.
”This is more than a school; it is an investment in our children, human capital and the families of those who serve our nation. It also reflects the Renewed Hope Agenda, which places education, human capital development and the welfare of service personnel at the heart of national progress.
