-As over 100 member -Class of 2026 sent forth, inducted into OCOSAN
The premier college in Ikorodu Division – Oriwu Senior Model College (OSMC), has honoured its outstanding students from Senior Secondary School Six One, who displayed academic excellence and staff in the just concluded 2025/26 session with Rhoda Aluko emerging as the Overall Best Graduating Student for the 2025/26; Oluwajomiloju Ajibegun as the Best Student in Science, and Jesutofumi Ijaola, Best Graduating Student in Literature.
They were presented with brand new laptops donated by an Alumni member of the school, Dr. Tajudeen Ogbara, a member of the OCOSAN 1966/70 Class set, while overall best student and the best graduating student in sciences were also presented with N100, 000 and N50, 000 respectively by the Oriwu College Old Students Association of Nigeria (OCOSAN). Other students that recorded excellence in different subjects in SSS Three to One were also appreciated with cash donations sponsored by Sir David Sunmoni, FCA, KJW, former Pro -Chancellor, LASU.
The outgoing students were also inducted into the alumni association of the school – OCOSAN as Class set of 2026, at an ceremony held at the OSMC School hall last Thursday..
At the ceremony, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, KJW, former Minister of Works and Deputy Chairman, OCOSAN Board of Trustees (BoT), also pledged to sponsor the university education of two graduating students who recorded highest score in the school –
Mr Olubunmi Tawio Faseun emerged as the Best Teacher 2025/26 in the school, while Mr Uze Micheal Oyeyemi, was honoured as the Most Supportive Teacher. Also honoured were Mrs Bosede Omolade Oladapo, Best Head of Department (HOD); Mr Tijani Lukman Adewale, Best Year Tutor; Mr Oluseyi Oyewole, Best Class Teacher; Mr Olaoye Oyekunle Toyeshe, Most Punctual teacher and Mrs Falilat Omowunmi Adesanya, Best Non-Teaching Staff.
Principal, OSMC, Mrs Iyabo Elusakin, who described the outgone set as unbeatable urged them to be proud of their achievements while in the college:
“I am delighted to welcome you all to this year’s Valedictory Service. Today is a remarkable occasion as we celebrate the achievements of our graduating students and mark the successful completion of an important phase of their educational journey.”
“To our graduating students, congratulation, your years in Oriwu College have been filled with learning challenges, growth and memorable experiences. Through dedication, perseverance, and significant milestone, you should be proud of your accomplishments.”
She urged them to let the value, knowledge and skills acquired in OSMC guide in their post -secondary engagements and continue to be good ambassadors of the premier college.
“As you leave the walls of this great school, remember that education is not merely about obtaining certificates, it is about developing character, acquiring knowledge, cultivating skills and preparing to make meaningful contributions to society. The values you have learned here: integrity, discipline, respect, responsibility and excellence should continue to guide your decisions and action.
“The world you are entering is full of opportunities and challenges. Success will depend not only on what you know but also on your ability to adapt, learn continuously and work diligently. Be confident in your abilities, remain focused on you goals and never stop striving for excellence.
“I encourage you to be good ambassadors of this institution wherever you go; uphold the good name of your school, through words and your actions reflect the quality of education you have received.”
Mrs Elusakin thanked staff and parents of the students for their efforts in molding the students to be excellent.
Mrs Foluke Allison, Chairperson of the occasion, congratulated the students for their resilience and dedication to excellence not just in academics but also in character.
“It is with great pleasure and gratitude that I welcome you to this year’s Annual Valedictory Service and Prize-Giving Day. This occasion is one of the most important events in our school calendar, as it gives us the opportunity to celebrate excellence, recognise hard work, and bid farewell to our graduating students as they move on to the next chapter of their lives.
“Today, we gather not only to present prizes and certificates but also to acknowledge the dedication, perseverance, and resilience that have brought our students this far. Every award presented today represents countless hours of study, discipline, commitment, and support from teachers and parents.”
While congratulating the award winners for their efforts, Mrs Allison also urged those that are unable to be on the honour list to be inspired by success of the honorees to do better next time.
“To our prize winners, I congratulate you on your achievements. Your success is a testament to the rewards of diligence and determination. As you celebrate today, remember that excellence is not a destination but a continuous journey. Remain humble, keep learning, and strive to achieve even more as good models to be followed.”
