The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has announced the appointment of Dr Steven Anu’ Adesemoye as its pioneer Director of Advancement and Internationalisation, effective immediately.
The office marks the university’s deliberate push to deepen its global footprint, strengthen institutional partnerships, and position LASUSTECH as a destination of choice for international staff and students.
In this pioneering capacity, Dr Adesemoye will champion the university’s vision and mission before external clients, corporate partners, and international organisations. His mandate includes forging strategic partnerships and collaborations, working with stakeholders across the institution to attract international staff and students, and building a strong, globally recognisable brand for LASUSTECH.
Dr Adesemoye brings a distinctive blend of academic credibility and industry experience to the role. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication, where he most recently served as the Head of Department, a tenure his successor described as one in which he diligently served and elevated the department’s standards.
He holds a doctorate from the University of Malaya, Malaysia, and he is a Fellow of the Business Journalism Professors programme at the Donald W. Reynolds National Centre for Business Journalism, Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Arizona State University.
His track record at LASUSTECH already demonstrates the outward-facing, partnership-driven approach the new office demands. He served as Team Lead for Digital and Creative Enterprise for the university, working alongside the Vice-Chancellor.
He has also led the university’s Digital Literacy Skills initiative for the Ikorodu trading community, a corporate social responsibility programme aligned with the institution’s town-and-gown relationship.
Beyond the university, his earlier career included spells as Chief Operating Officer and TV Content Director at Digital Interactive Media and Origin 8 Format, where he directed reality television productions in Nigeria and Ghana, and he has directed documentary and distance-learning drama content for international health communication programmes.
Speaking on the appointment, Dr Adesemoye said that it is an honour and thanked the VC for his trust. He laid out his strategic plans
”I am deeply honoured to take up this assignment and grateful to the Vice-Chancellor for his belief in me. Building an office from the ground up is a rare privilege, and I intend to use it to open doors for LASUSTECH on the world stage.
”My immediate priorities are to formalise a pipeline of international academic partnerships, launch a coordinated strategy for recruiting international staff and students, and present LASUSTECH’s story with the clarity and consistency it deserves.
”I will work closely with colleagues across every college and department to ensure that our global engagement translates into tangible outcomes: exchange agreements signed, joint research secured, and a student and staff population that reflects our international ambition. I do not intend to simply hold this office; I intend to build it into a lasting engine of growth for the university,” he said.
The appointment comes at a defining moment for LASUSTECH, which has, in recent years, expanded its technological infrastructure, strengthened its research output, and pursued closer ties with global academic and industry partners. Dr Adesemoye’s brief will build on this momentum, aligning the university’s advancement and internationalisation efforts with its long-term strategic goals.
