Operatives of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC), Imota Command, have arrested a 35-year-old suspected gun runner and alleged armourer for the Aiye cult group during a surveillance operation in Imota Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu Local Governemnt.

The operation followed complaints from residents of the Araromi community over recurring petrol theft from parked vehicles. Acting on the intelligence, LNSC officers intensified surveillance and, at about 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, 27 June 2026, intercepted the suspect, Jelili Adeyemo, whose suspicious movement led to his arrest.

A subsequent search of another residence linked to the suspect at No. 13, Agundugbun Street, Imota, resulted in the recovery of two locally made long guns, three locally made short guns, military camouflage items, jack knives, a stun device, cutlasses, metal handcuffs, used cartridges, and other items. The suspect reportedly confessed to keeping firearms for members of the Aiye cult group.

The suspect and recovered exhibits have been handed over to the Imota Police Division for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Commenting on the operation, the General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan, FISN, said the arrest reflects the Agency’s commitment, in line with the vision of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, to combating crime and enhancing public safety. He also urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
