The Executive Chairman, Imota Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Sunday Benson, has urged residents and stakeholders within the council, to join hands with the council authority in making Imota cleaner and also environment friendly.
He charged them on the need for proper disposal of refuse, consistent planting of trees and general good sanitation.
Hon. Benson made the clarion call on Friday, in commemoration of the 2026 World Environment Day.

”As the world commemorates World Environment Day, I urge all residents, community leaders, and stakeholders across Imota Local Council Development Area, to embrace environmentally responsible practices that will promote a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment in our communities.
”In Imota LCDA, we remain committed to supporting initiatives that advance environmental sustainability and community development.
”I encourage residents to take deliberate steps toward proper waste disposal, tree planting, regular environmental sanitation, and the reduction of activities that contribute to pollution and environmental degradation”, Hon. Benson stated.

He further emphasised environmental that:
”Protecting our environment is a collective responsibility that requires the active participation of government, private organizations, community groups, and every individual. Together, we can create a safer and more sustainable future for all”.
The council chairman also beckoned on youths on the need to also achieve sustainability in environmental protection by actively engaging in cleaning of the environment, tree planting and in addition, assisting the council in creating awareness.

”I also call on the youths of Imota LCDA, to become ambassadors of environmental sustainability by promoting awareness and actively participating in initiatives that protect and preserve our ecosystem. Their energy, creativity, and commitment are vital to building a greener and more resilient community.
”As we mark this year’s World Environment Day, let us renew our commitment to keeping our surroundings clean, protecting our natural resources, and ensuring a healthier environment for future generations.
