-Abiru lauds President Tinubu’s achievements

The Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, and the Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, have urged members of the ruling party to put the outcomes of the just concluded primary elections in the state behind them, and work towards the unity and success of the party in the forthcoming 2027 General Elections.
Appealing to those favoured as candidates, others that lost and the APC stakeholders, the two party chieftains enjoined everyone to focus on the challenges ahead against other opposition parties.
They made the appeal on Sunday, at the 2026 Ileya get -to -together organized by Sen. Abiru at his Ikorodu country home, where chieftains of Governance Advisory Council (GAC), chieftains of the APC, Council chairmen and other stakeholders across the Lagos East Senatorial District, were in attendance.

Senator Abiru, speaking with journalists, explained that the gathering was to bring chieftains and members of the APC in Lagos East together, and strengthen the party going into next year’s general elections, aftermath the primary elections.
“What we are doing here today is, first, part of the celebration of the festive season, Eid el-Kabir. Beyond the celebration, it is also an opportunity for us to further unify the party and strengthen our structures.
“As we look ahead to 2027, it is important to remember that the process has already begun with the party primaries. Apart from the governorship and senatorial primaries, many positions were contested. In the House of Representatives primaries, we had over 90 aspirants, while only 24 emerged as candidates. In the House of Assembly primaries, we had over 180 aspirants, while only 40 emerged.

“This shows that as we prepare for 2027, we must continue to unite and strengthen the party. In every competition, there will naturally be disagreements and some level of rancor. Part of what we are doing here today is bringing people together and fostering unity so that when the campaigns begin in earnest, we can move forward as one united front”, Sen. Abiru said.
The Senator also emphasised the achievements of President Bola Tinubu, as campaign strategies for APC candidates towards the general elections.
“The President has also laid out a clear agenda. The reforms we have seen are designed to strengthen the country both economically and politically. Today, we are already seeing various interventions and policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians, including direct support initiatives, salary improvements, the new minimum wage, and other planned measures.

“These are some of the achievements and policies we will present to Nigerians as we campaign. They are the stories people will be interested in hearing because they directly affect their lives.
“Overall, I believe the APC’s build-up to the 2027 elections is well planned and carefully calculated”, he said.
The Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, speaking during the event, thanked party members in the state for accepting the outcome of the primary elections, and for conducting themselves in peaceful manners during the exercise.
“I want to thank you for not allowing the process to be disrupted. I want to thank and appreciate you. We will continue to improve on whatever that we have decided to use in selecting our candidates.

“For those of you that were not picked, let us come together, lets us strengthen our party. What we have at hand at the federal, state and local government levels are enough for all of us”.
He assured members that the party, under his leadership, will continue to reward party members and ensure that they have a sense of belonging.
He also enjoined APC members in Ikorodu, to sustain their commitment and dedication to the party.
“I want to assure all the good people of Ikorodu that you are leading; you are leading in all ramifications. You are leading in voters’ registration and in the e- registration of our party members.

“Two days ago, I was with Mr President and he informed me that any local government with the highest votes are going to be compensated and asked me to urge Ikorodu to maintain its leading position”.ppp
He lauded Senator Abiru for his quality and people -oriented policies and projects across the Lagos East.
“Abiru’s re -election is a challenge to all of us. This is what service to all of us is all about. If you do good, you will surely reap its reward and you can see that he is doing good”.
He urged other elected and appointed public officers to emulate Senator Abiru in doing good.

The APC Chairman also stated that he witnessed the execution and commissioning of most of the projects listed by the Senator as its achievements in the booklet that were distributed at the Ileya gathering.
