‎ln an effort to prevent the frontage of the African Bethel Primary School, Ota Ona, Ikorodu, from being converted to a commercial motorcycle park, which has been the practice before now, the Education Secretary, Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaji Taiwo Odumbo, has enforced the directive of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) to restore sanity.

‎Following the concern raised regarding the inappropriate use of the school frontage and the immediate action by the Executive Secretary who engaged the leadership of the motorcycle riders, also known as “Okada”, sanity has returned to the school environment.

‎Alhaji Odumbo said that the school environment has not only been vacated by the Okada riders, but that action to prevent them from returning has also been put in place.

‎”In doing so, I promptly engaged with the leadership of the motorcycle transport union. As a result, the school entrance has now been vacated, and representatives of the union has been stationed at the location to ensure compliance.

‎”In addition, a signpost will be mounted at the school frontage, and regular monitoring visits will be conducted to guarantee total compliance”, Alhaji Odumbo stated.

‎The Education Secretary thanked the concerned individual that brought the attention of his office to the illegal park by the Okada riders.

‎”We sincerely appreciate the individual who brought this matter to our attention, as well as all stakeholders whose cooperation ensured swift resolution. Together, we continue to uphold the safety, orderliness, and moral integrity of our learning environments”.
