Pledges reforms

The leadership baton of the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) changed on Sunday evening after the two years administration of Arch. Taiwo Kara, who was elected two years ago as the Chairman of the Group, came to an end.
The responsibility of leadership was passed onto an educationist and the proprietor of HOMAT Group of Schools, Alhaji Olawale Amusa, after he earned more votes to defeat former Vice Chairman, Dr. Mobolaji Olukoya in an election.
With his emergence, Alhaji Amusa doubled as the Chairman of the Group and that of the Ikorodu Town Hall Management Board (ITHMB).

Alhaji Amusa polled 23 votes from 40 accredited members present at the 41st Annual General Meeting of the IDRDG, while Dr Olukoya, Commissioner, Lagos State Health Commission, who until the dissolution of the former Executive Council before the election was IDRDG Vice Chairman recorded 17 votes.
The peaceful election was organised by Prof. Olumide Metilelu, a member of the IDRDG and commissioner representing Ikorodu Division in the Lagos State Electoral Commission (LASIEC) and Dr. Saheed Ibikunle, Permanent Member, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LSUBEB).
The election started at 6:27pm after the AGM nominations of the two and ended at 6:49pm with Prof. Metilelu returning Alhaji Amusa, who was a former General Secretary of the Group as the chairman -elect.

Thereafter, he was sworn -in along with Dr Taiwo Hassan, Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer (MD/CEO), General Hospital Ikorodu as Vice Chairman, Alhaji (Hon.) Fathiu Salisu, former Executive Chairman, Ijede LCDA retained his seat having only served a year of two years he was elected into and Mr Seun Elesho, a senior staff of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) was elected as the Assistant General Secretary unopposed.
Former representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, was elected for the position of Treasurer, while the immediate past IDRDG Chairman, Arch. Taiwo Kara emerged as Ex -officio 1 and Barr. Nurudeen Ogbara, former Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) was elected as Ex -officio 2.
In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Amusa flanked by the newly elected Vice Chairman, Dr. Hassan and the returned General Secretary, Alhaji Fathiu Salisu, thanked elders and members of the Group for the trust reposed in him and his team.

While stating that the Group needed redirection to further achieve its aims and objectives, the new chairman sought for the support of members for his cabinet to achieve the mission.
He called for team work, unity and collectiveness to move forward while pledging to work closely with Dr Olukoya.
Alhaji Amusa also announced that his administration will constitute a committee of past chairmen to give due recognition to them and also tap from their wealth of experiences in resolving matters and moving the Group forward.
He also promised that the new team will rejuvenate the Group’s media team to give IDRDG more high impact visibility.
