Aroyewun Sets To Build First Smart Primary Sch In Next One Year

The Executive Chairman, Igbogbo-Baiyeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Omo’ba Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun, has unveiled his administration’s agenda in the next one year and years after.

A major focus is the education sub -sector where he has developed a smart school project which he intends to build in different areas of the council before the end of his administration.

According to the chairman, the new primary school within Zumratul Islamiyyah Grammar School, Igbogbo, when completed, will improve access to quality education.

Aroyewun made the revelation at the first media chat by his administration held on Thursday at the council secretariat, on the initiative which the young council boss said would be the first in Lagos State

The design of the school was presented at the media chat.

Recall that officials of the Ministry of Education and other government agencies visited the site last year for an on-the-spot assessment of the location which has been excised from Zumratul Islammiyyah Secondary School’s land.

THE IMPACT also gathered that the final approval for the construction of the smart school that would be a three -storey classrooms block equipped with digital tools, with ICT centre, administrative section, library, healing bay, sporting arena and other facilities, is being expected from the governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo -Olu.

“In the area of education, this would be the first smart school in Lagos State and God willing, we will finish it next year”, Aroyewun said at the media chat.

In the area of education in the last eight months, the council boss said that his administration had recorded several achievements as part of his “GLORY” agenda since assuming office in July, 2025.

According to him, he initiated the reconstruction of six classrooms with a newly constructed toilet facilities at Methodist Primary School, and furnished the building with model desks and chairs and white boards and distributed over 300 free JAMB/UTME forms to indigent students, with plans to provide grants and scholarships to high-performing candidates scoring above 300.

He successfully organized the 2025 spelling bee competition and sponsored public school students to various academic competitions. He also distributed first-aid boxes to all government primary schools across the LCDA, to promote hygienic learning environments and ensure prompt treatment of injuries.

His administration also created the office of the Special Adviser on Student Affairs, a first in the LCDA, to directly address student welfare, and facilitated construction of new classroom blocks from federal and state representatives among others.
